  1. Re: Tricky spot OOP 6max Cash Game well if hes a thinking player he will expect you to continue with most of your range on that turn = as far as i get, im not sure where this leaves us with 77, betting for value still?! Put it this way, a thinking player with 56s might have a problem folding on that turncard against someone who they perceive to be a LAG capable of firing multiple streets. If betting for value then it is definately thin so bet a bit less to get called by the bottom of his flop calling range. Tbh I dont know how 200nl plays but I presume its pretty LAGgy

  2. Re: Hand Review: 10c/25c (FR) 3 my instinct is once you get min raised on the river you are generally beat here but its pretty hard and maybe not +EV to find a fold. I dont have any clue how FR [or poker at whatever site this is] plays but for what its worth IMO microstakes fish [and most regs] at full tilt and stars are passive without the nuts, and imo you will pay bigtime if you start to shove sets over the top of a min raise on the river on a board like this (I mean what exactly is a passive player min-raising here when weve just bet 3 streets into him?!?!). Im not going to comment on preflop as ive never played full ring (well since i started taking poker more seriously) but post flop I think you played it fine although your bet sizing is a bit wack, if you are going to donk the flop after check/calling pre then you might as well bet more, bet more on the turn as well, not too sure how that sets us up for the river but i guess we can cross that bridge when we meet it. I think your justification for betting small is okay but you are really trying too hard IMO, you dont need to get inside his head to beat him - just valuebet your good hands properly and you will take his money (half potting the flop is [almost] NEVER going to be good when you have a set). PS i like seeing cash hands on strat so post more more more.

  3. Re: Hand Review: 12c/25c (FR) 2 lol ive been playing for a little while now and i still have no clue how to respond to min bets, i just do what i would have done anyway if it was checked round now.. People play monotone flops really badly imo, I play 6 max so im not sure how it well it applies to this hand but when i flop the nuts im trying to get my stack in over 3 streets (and you arent going to do that by flatting for two unless uve hit the jackpot and he has Kxd). You would be surprised how many times people will call you down with two pair thinking you are trying it on with Adx. **** knows what the guy had, he cant have the Kd, so maybe something retarded like 2d3 or something. Hmmmm..

  4. Re: Hand Review: 12c/25c (10 Handed) Another advantage of shoving the turn is that if does have a hand like KcQc or AT then he is making a mistake by folding (which he definately could do with AT). So this hand may be less about getting value and more about folding out hands with a good enough equity share to call (if you can do this regularly then you are pimp and will be a good winner imo).

  5. Re: Hand Review: 12c/25c (10 Handed) another point: I know it is tempting to size your bets small vs shortstacks because you want to make sure they dont fold but in reality there isnt much point most of the time - and on some boards [like this one] its dangerous. Basically (and im not sure how high up this advice goes, but to a certain extent i would guess at least 400nl) on a whole make your value bets larger than you cbets, barrels and bluffs in general...because you give yourself a better price and these people will rarely [if ever] notice.

  6. Re: Hand Review: 12c/25c (10 Handed) I agree with Nade, get him in on the turn...Even without the turn being a club, his range after calling the flop is dominated by pair + draw hands and even moreso by the turn [i guess]. Played it fine though, cant fold with the pot that big. You generally need to remember, short stacks (at this level, maybe not higher up) are always relatively bad players, he will get it in with a lot worse, especially after that turn.

  7. Re: Cash Players Toolkit

However if Krantz is too high up the tree to be offering advice that could be helping at that level, should they not have got someone else to do the series? :unsure
Well clearly they dont see it the way I do :P Obviously I wouldnt say no if he offered to coach me, and he would no doubt be able to make any of us into better players. Its just a preference of mine to watch vids made by midstakes regs that have to table select and use stats just like I do, helps me relate it to my game a lot more.
  8. Re: Cash Players Toolkit i think that maybe the problem with watching krantz vids purely for advice is that he has been a high stakes pro for too long, he knows the players he plays against inside out and its so hard [/foolish] to relate anything that he does to lower stakes (PS. ive never watched his HU vids mainly because ive never gotten into headsup). Its like asking hellmuth to coach you for the 4$ 180 man SNGs on stars or asking Ivey on how to beat 10nl

  9. Re: Cash Players Toolkit

advice they're offering on the series I'm watching (prinnyraiding) -
Do you realise you are watching a 200/400 player sweating at 200nl? Obviously Krantz is a different animal and his advice is going to be hard to incorperate into your own game. I prefer to watch series by say 400nl, 600nl or 1000nl pros playing 100nl or 200nl because you know that they have actually beaten these levels recently. Plus if you want to hear some people disagreeing then watch balugawhale and tubasteve in 'the coaching tree' (even watch the full ring stuff if you dont play full ring - i think theres two eps of full ring). Balugawhale is the most confident person ive heard talking about poker. Its quite funny, the idea is that they watch a vid of a member playing and then tubasteve gives his comments and advice, then balugawhale gives better advice (quite often a completely different line) and then tubasteve tries to rescue his ego when he realises hes wrong by agreeing :D.
  10. Re: .5c/.10c Cash Hand (10 handed)

I know it's small stakes and that but personally I hate the call pre flop with a9 when out of position you hit that ace and he could have a better kicker just gets you in to much trouble playing weak aces out of position.
I think its important to say that there is no issue with playing these sort of hands if you have a plan for the rest of the hand [i.e. what are you going to do on an A/9 high flop]
  11. Re: another cash hand from last night

with top pair on the flop,i wanted to end the hand there
See this is upsidedown logic, I cant stress the value of a membership at DeucesCracked or at least having a chat with a cash game pro who can really get their point across (i.e. someone who can justify their actions with solid theory, something i aspire to be able to do one day lol). I think almost none of his range is a bluff but all you are doing by shoving is getting hands you beat (bluffs and wierd bets when hes caught a piece) to fold and hands that beat you to call. In cash games we are trying to maximise our EV on one particular hand, where as in tournys you might have to make decisions based on the stack-pot ratios and stuff like that.
thinking he had mid pair or A/K,a bad read by me as it turned out
Whilst you are playing you should be asking yourself a lot of questions about what you want to happen and therefore why you should take a certain action [and also what you will do in the rest of the hand], so i will start with one here. 'Why am I trying to make him fold these hands?' Giving him the oppotunity to fold these hands is pretty much allowing him to play them perfectly, he took a stab at the pot, u shoved, he KNOWS hes losing now and can fold.
  12. Re: another cash hand from last night I am going to start doing my strategy posts in bullet form because otherwise I just waffle. - This is pretty hideous tbh - What was your thinking behind the tiny donkbet on the flop? i.e. what were you hoping for it to acheive.. - I dont like a check/call because its multiway and the PFR is pretty likely to check behind if hes missed or caught a small piece, then were are giving a free card 4-way on a very very drawy board - Im not excited about playing this hand once the flop comes down like that. - Why did you shove over the top on the flop, are any better hands going to fold [obv not] but more importantly are any worse hands going to call [pretty unlikely] - I really cant find a line that I like here other than fold/3bet preflop, Im suspicious of his tiny raise preflop. The advantage of a 3bet preflop is that you are probably forcing him to define his hand early in the action, if he 4bets you can fold without a worry and if he flats you have decent equity and a good chance of making some money against JJ/TT and the likes on a Q or K high flop (note that I probably check/fold or bethalfpot/fold a lot of flops. Ramble Ramble Ramble So in summary: - you played the hand pretty bad but it definately isnt an easy spot. - i like a 3bet or fold preflop [note you are ahead of the limpers ranges that you are giving huge odds to call the raise by flatting pf] - as played i like a check/call if this guy will cbet in multiway pots without 'it', otherwise you are just posting money down a drain. In most circumstances a lead is probly best on the flop but never that small.

  13. Re: Cash Players Toolkit if you are signing up to DC i would honestly just keep the subscription going, there are a couple of cracking series right now... The coaching tree and professor plotkin (gets very mathsy about hand ranges etc) are the best two series right now for low stakes holdem. plus Watch the Ghost videos by balugawhale and MDM13 and you will pretty much be ready to play anything up to .10/.25 profitably imo. Get holdem manager and perhaps buy hand histories because datamining can be a pain in the ass...its nice to know that someone 3bets 13% of the time from the button and not have sample size issues to worry about (basically get a big database somehow).

  14. Re: 24" Monitor for £202 ive been eyeing up a 28" monitor on novatech for a while for about 250 i think (which is crazy cheap, so is this one) but im not sure i will actually like it when i get it, i 6 table on full tilt and the size of tables is pissing me off, but im on a 17" monitor right now, the thought of 28" just scares me [oooo errr]

  15. Re: I move up and run bad

1st hand you overplay AK against 2 callers' date=' very dangerous play[/quote'] This is unfair imo, i had a decent read on the guy, any made hands he repotted, this looked so much like a 'im gonna raise that Cbet because youve got nothing, but i dont want to commit too much' and it basically was, he just decided to call with a gutshot (he was actually priced to do so against two overs but im obviously repping better than that by that stage). Surely more has to be taken into account than, 'i have AK, ive missed the board, 3way pot, obv fold'?!? But yeh nade ive ran worse but not at .25/.50, i havnt played .25/.50 for more than 1k hands before (was playin with 500$ roll eeek two years ago when i was a spaz)
  16. Re: I move up and run bad oh and yeh this isnt strategy really but i guess people can try and say what i did wrong/good or something, maybe we can develop this into a thread to try and find out why 50nl winning regs min-squeeze with AA? Just a thought.

  17. Re: I move up and run bad oh and this gem, i think it might be my biggest losing hand ever. Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com MP ($60.90) CO ($52.30) Button ($52.65) Hero (SB) ($75.60) BB ($88.55) UTG ($77.25) Preflop: Hero is SB with 10spade.gif, 8spade.gif 2 folds, CO raises to $1.75, 1 fold, Hero calls $1.50, BB raises to $4.50, 1 fold, Hero calls $2.75 Flop: ($10.75) Aspade.gif, 9spade.gif, Jheart.gif (2 players) Hero checks, BB bets $8, Hero raises to $25, BB calls $17 Turn: ($60.75) Qclub.gif (2 players) Hero bets $46.10 (All-In), BB calls $46.10 River: ($152.95) 9heart.gif (2 players, 1 all-in) Total pot: $152.95 | Rake: $3

  18. I just moved up to 50NL and have run 3BI below expection almost immediately, containing this funny/i want to cry/killmyself hand, probly the wierdest call ive ever seen (in a strange way he was spot on, but he was 70/6 table donk) Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com CO ($50) Button ($58.70) SB ($183.80) Hero (BB) ($50) UTG ($50) MP ($115.35) Preflop: Hero is BB with Aspade.gif, Kclub.gif1 fold, MP calls $0.50, CO calls $0.50, 2 folds, Hero raises to $2.50, MP calls $2, CO calls $2 Flop: ($7.75) 2diamond.gif, 10spade.gif, 6heart.gif(3 players) Hero bets $6, MP raises to $15, 1 fold, Hero raises to $47.50 (All-In), MP calls $32.50 Turn: ($102.75) 3heart.gif(2 players, 1 all-in) River: ($102.75) 7diamond.gif(2 players, 1 all-in) Total pot: $102.75 | Rake: $3 This wasnt spew, i didnt have a specific read on him other than the raise size looked strange i.e. looked like he wanted a fold without commiting himself (not sure why he calls when the shove if this was the case) Happy though played 2500 hands today, my most ever in a day i believe. Yey now i just need to run better. Needed to vent a bit after that.

  19. Re: First hand shove - call or fold?

Aye fcuking call that flop isn't scary at all. I reckon the guy has either AA KK or AQ go on make it AQh:loon. Just kidding I would never call on that flop. I don't think there's any hand that you are a huge favourite against in this situation.
    poorly played 5s?
  20. Re: Cash Table Etiquette I like winning 400+BB pots so i stay if i double or treble since im pretty sure i only play in games that i have a decent edge. Live is where i can see myself more likely to sprint off, because i play .10/.25 and .25/.50 online but probably the lowest live game i could find is .5/1 maybe 1/2 which im significantly underrolled for. Huge sessions tend to be the result of one huge pot imo, to get a huge pot you cant run off when you double up (especially if there is a fish sitting on 200BB).

  21. Re: Automatic shove?

I've quite often read people saying similar things' date=' but I've never really been convinced. Against just about any "top X%" calling range, A6o does better than 45o. For example, against a top 5% hand (99+ AJs+ AKo KQs), A6o is about 28% and 45o is about 26%. Of course, it's true that if they call with a big ace, you're better off with 45o, but on the other hand, if they call with a big/medium pair then you're [b']much better off with A6o. OK, if you think their calling range will contain more big aces and fewer aceless hands, then you can cook up a range against which 45o does better (e.g., if the calling range is 1010+ AJs+ AQo+, then A6o is about 26% and 45o is about 28.5%). But since about two-thirds of the hands in that range need an ace, you're significantly less likely to be called if you have an ace when you shove.
kinda what i wanted to say but i didnt have the patience (or skillzzzzz) to write it all out like that, good post. edit/ In simple terms to me, basically with 45o you are never ahead when called, with Ax you are going to be just ahead or flipping a lot of time heads up.
  22. Re: Automatic shove? how did the rest of the tournament go, please say you got crippled a few hands before as opposed to waiting waiting waiting nearly getting blinded out and then pushing UTG with 85o
