Hi there and thanks for putting this up.
my angle here is the form and the draw. I think Alcohol free will retain ability in time but the transition to a new world is massive and training methods nutrition etc is so different. He needs to reach racing weight over there and acclimatise fully. That said it’s all factored into his massive price over 66/1. Espiona under Hugh Bowman looks interesting having won the coolmore and zac purton is also over from Hong Kong.
    ESPONIA

group 1 winnner in July last year and can’t help thinking it’s too early in career to hit the straps running here but may well be under the radar finished third at goodwood to one of the best horses in recent years on last English appearance.
good luck and thank you again

Some excellent work LG well done. I’m intrigued and often trawl over the racing tv videos to check out some of the unseats. I have nothing but admiration for national hunt jockeys, but one or two unseats look suspicious and off course, the subsequent results bear that out. I’d be interested to collaborate with you on this in some way. Give me some idea of your methodology Lee.

    Very tricky to assess.
I’ve looked at it from the pov that captain Teague was a long way clear of facile mode who won a maiden hurdle at punchestown three days ago. But it’s comparing the champion bumper standard to a class four novice hurdle. I have to conclude that the grade 1 bumper is more testing than the novice hurdle. He’s won over fences already so if he can jump a hurdle out to win here given he’s got the distance .
feet firmly in the captain’s camp 🏕 assuming Nicholls has pitched him in because he’s schooled well.

The opener at Newmarket many of these have had to travel but have been pulled before due to the change in going. Because of the distances and the prize money many will stay in and hope they cope with the ground.
Hugh Taylor’s put up tears of a clown each way and I can see why. Key to this race may well be the draw and if so Oisin Murphy is in the car park.
(Someone said yesterday I do go on a bit and that he tends to scroll past my posts which is fair do’s then goes on to say I’m relaying my selections? All my own work.)
Oisin’s record on his horse however is exceptional as is his first race record at big meetings. Although he is in stall 15 this horse has defied a poor draw he won at ascot of his draw to be the first home on soft ground in a race won by high drawn horses. He proved to be that outlier by bolting up on heavy ground next time out at Goodwood by four lengths. Bearing in mind Oisin has make a near illegal move to get a good pitch it will pay to find a low drawn horse for each way interest. I’m only sampling four soft ground races in recent years for the draw data, but it will throw up the best drawn low soft ground runner.
    conclusion
    inquisitively
    win
top draw and top rated receives free energy from strong sources only likely rival Oisin Murphy riding from stall fifteen a very difficult task given the ground.
this is frankie detorri having the first race of his second career in racing having milked a retirement tour for all it was worth. Maybe frankie will go back to the Irish racecourse and ride for free there.

I’m on a journey and I really don’t feel the need to explain it but I’m best left to get on with it and hopefully I’ll find some good winners along the way.
    Yesterday
I really ought not to have bet at all with all of this swirling around.
My real win yesterday was not my ability to race read but the fact I landed a deal with my local hospice to provide an initiative to raise money through simply selling bags of manure to save people travelling miles individually to get it themselves. Initially it was meant to be ten bags a month @ £3 or £4 a bag no cash cards direct online to the hospice only. But the first person insisted that it should and would be £5 and that they wanted the first SEVEN bags.
13 bags were bought yesterday (with gift aid too).
Same deal for bouquets from my cut flower patch. Ten a month which will likely will also be ten a week.
When you try to prove a point you cannot do so. My realisation is none of us have anything to prove.  There’s a guy on the other forum called steeplechasing (now I might have mixed him up with someone else, I often do) I think he had a tagline “don’t get into arguments or spats even when you think you are right. They’ll drag you down to their level with experience and when you are rolling together in the dirt no one will know the faintest difference between you.” The main thing is I do stable switchers, the Hugh Taylor thread, and seek out free energy and winners. I will consort with people who genuinely have a passion for horses who realise there is more to the racing  than meets the eye 👁. The rest….. I’m not interested.
    The racing
I will get four plus winners today because I now realise there is nothing to prove and  no pressure anymore. The physics along with the form are key and remain so.
Newmarket’s opening race is going to tell us plenty about how the rest of the day will go. Noah and Nellie will again be out in force in their wellies and sou westers. I suspect that today there will be plenty of takers to the cry “ all aboard the skylark! “  Given the profile of many of these good ground types, expect three to four withdrawals.
Flora of Bermuda should have no such worries having crushed juniper berries by four lengths on heavy ground. Juniper berries reciprocated back on good recently.
Now Hugh Taylor what have you got?

I’m not sure wether to just post Hugh’s selection box rather than the rationale as he isn’t making a lot of sense and sounding a bit like pricewise. But like me Hugh has his moments and it is probably best to see what’s his thought process.

    Published 9.05 & 9.53 - all selections online
If there was a smile on Henry Candy’s face this morning as he saw how much overnight rain there had been at Newmarket, it won’t have been just to fool the public, as TEARS OF A CLOWN very much comes into the reckoning for the Cornwallis Stakes (1.50) now that conditions are set to be testing.
She was a runaway winner at Windsor in May on deep ground in a very respectable time for an early-season juvenile on that sort of ground, the fact that her three rivals chose to go to the far rail unlikely to have had a significant bearing on the result, considering that Tears Of A Clown’s time was faster than all bar the first two home in the Class 5 handicap for older horses run over the same distance that day, when the field stayed on the stands side.
She was sold for just 25,000 guineas at an online sale in June, and that looked money well spent when she was third in the Listed St Hugh’s Stakes at Newbury on her first start for Henry Candy in August behind today’s rival Miaharris, who produced a strong late surge to win.
I thought Tears Of A Clown shaped as if possibly just in need of the run that day, and she also still showed signs of greenness, not helped by being unable to gain cover in the early stages.
The times suggested that the ground probably wasn’t especially soft at Newbury, and I’m convinced that like many of Pearl Secret’s progeny she’ll need testing ground to show her best. A highlight of Candy’s long career has been his skill with sprinters, and having had Tears Of A Clown only since June, there may be more improvement in her.
It’s not often that you can say “showed signs of a return to form” about a horse that finished 18th, beaten over 12 lengths in a sprint, but I think that’s the case with BERGERAC, and although there are question marks over the draw, trip and ground, he still might be worth chancing in the 5f handicap at York (5.00).
He’s been out of form this season, but he showed much more of his zip in the Ayr Silver Cup last time in a race where he had no realistic chance from his high draw. The group of 15 that raced towards the far side provided the first fifteen home in a race where the field initially split into three groups, and Bergerac readily beat the five horses that raced close to the stands side with him, all in all shaping best of the 10 horses that didn’t join the main group considering he stayed close to the stands side throughout.
He has plenty of form here and ran much better than the bare result when 10th of 19 over 6f here on ground with some give it in in a valuable Class 2 handicap here last October, leading the stands side group a merry dance for much of the race.
His high draw might count against him, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he were withdrawn if the ground gets really testing, but off a mark 5lb lower than at Ayr, he’s worth the chance to confirm that he’s back in form.

I'm somewhere in between.  this particular date falls of course on Friday. I’m not superstitious at all but it is this numbers thing which will provide a few winners this weekend. I hit the bar with a few on Thursday. I was a little intrigued by the consternation my posts have caused with a couple. I’ve answered them and am done with it. I’m not bothered by criticism and would say to any critics don’t waste your energy ( put me on ignore) I put my energy into race reading. One effect it does have is negativity causes the same.

Looked visually impressive in the preliminaries and had a big physical advantage over rivals. This was the case in the race itself and he cantered home always on top and doing more than enough to win comfortably.
started with a win in Japan and ended with two in America. The bit in between not so good. Spent too long fighting my corner and totally put off by it all. Haven’t had a day like today in months so it is no coincidence. A big thank you to a forumite who sent me a message of encouragement about any flak I received today and yesterday. And also to the guy who commented on yesterday’s thread today thank you for your positivity.  ( when the tricast comes up I will pm them  beforehand to you two guys personally)    I had two or three other big happy distractions and a big big plus in the real world and my main focus has been there.
Ended with two winners officially as aleman doesn’t count.
    I Strong won 11/10
I strong beat on an island (12/1)into second place.
    so another forecast landed.
I'm disappointed but not surprised with today’s results you have to be in a good place to focus on what you are doing and be able to concentrate but here’s an example of what I did write today    “

behind an “eye catching” runner last time and collaborative form from that race could transfer here.  In the group horse stall (3). This  one could suprise some loftier runners. The true draw data horse here is porters place and on breeding paddy twomey’s runner could well win but is certain to be winning in due course and will benefit from the run. Certainly worth watching out for under Billy Lee…. “

a third selection for the curragh 1315
    GREENFINCH
    WIN
Aidan O’Brien  second string here and drawn in centre of track seamie heffernan often rides these well and tongue tie on after out the back debut ”
porters place bolted up on debut.
    greenfinch 20/1 second
    and then
    second race at the curragh
“there is a free energy horse here too and whilst best watched to see what happens both of  the O’Brienhorses may be affected positively….”
not both but all of the O’Brien  runners in a stable 123.
