    Chelsea vs Southampton
The home side was brilliant last weekend, as they trashed Norwich City 7:0 in the Premier League 9th round. Thomas Tuchel’s side secured a comfortable 3:0 lead before halftime, while they kept the same tempo until the end of the match. That victory keep them on the top of the table, being one point ahead of Liverpool. Chelsea celebrated seven times in the English top-flight and are among the major title contenders this season. The Blues have been almost unbeatable in defense, as they have conceded only three goals so far. On the other hand, Mason Mount and the lads have been pretty productive in front of the oppositions’ net, scoring 23 goals this season. They want to challenge all trophies, and Chelsea will search for another victory.
Southampton managed to escape from the relegation zone thanks to picking up four points in the previous two rounds. They booked their first win in the season in mid-October, and the visitors are now four points ahead of the red line. However, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side needs to do better to get away from danger. Adam Armstrong and the lads have trouble converting their chances into goals, while their defense hasn’t been too bad. Southampton managed to get back home undefeated just twice this season, and they will have a very tough task at Stamford Bridge. The visitors have already successfully passed two EFL Cup steps, eliminating Newport County and Sheffield United.
    Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction
Although Chelsea will very likely field a mixed lineup, they are still favorites in this clash. The Blues want to keep their confidence high while providing a chance for rotation players to show their capabilities. Therefore, we believe the hosts will meet the expectations and progress to the quarter-finals.
    Goals Market Prediction
Chelsea has been very disciplined in the back, but we see a big value on the BTTS Yes market. Southampton scored at least once in the previous five encounters against the Blues, and they could extend that streak. Therefore, we don’t think either side will keep the clean sheet

    Leeds vs Wolves
The penultimate preview of the 3pm BST kick-offs in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon is the clash of Leeds versus Wolves at Elland Road. The home team are finding points hard to come by this season even though their general displays haven't been too bad but they face a big challenge in an ever-improving away side who will feel this is a game they can win.
Leeds stormed the Premier League last season with a refreshing brand of relentless football but this season that approach hasn't quite brought the same results. Marcelo Bielsa's side are down in 17th place with just 6 points earned and only 1 win from their 8 league games so far. The Whites still have their injury concerns. Raphinha is back after being left out last weekend due to international commitments and Kalvin Phillips might have some involvement but the likes of Patrick Bamford, Junior Firpo, Robin Koch, and Luke Ayling are all still missing. A worrying statistic is that Leeds have won just 18% of their Premier League games when Phillips has been absent. Questions also remain over the squad's fitness with the team conceding a division-high 11 goals in the second half of games so far this season.
Wolves had started the season ominously with 3 defeats without a goal being scored but things have started to get better for the Black Country side. Bruno Lage will be delighted that his team are turning their encouraging displays into points now. It's now 4 wins from the past 5 league matches and Wanderers could win 4 top flight away league games in a row for the first time since 1980. It could also be the first time they win 4 consecutive top flight league games since 1972. The team remains notorious slow starters with just 1 of their 8 league goals so far scored in the first half of their games.
It probably doesn't bode well for Leeds that Wolves come into this game with the aim of picking up 6 straight league wins against Leeds. Leeds have lost 5 of the last 7 meetings with Wolves on home turf so you can see why the Leeds fans feel that Wolves have become a bit of a bogey side. I just feel Leeds are suffering from too many key absentees at the moment to allow them to fulfil their potential and with Wolves seemingly in the ascendancy I can see a narrow away win here.

    Everton vs Watford
The next preview I'm covering in the Saturday games in the Premier League is the 3pm BST kick-off between Everton and Watford at Goodison Park. Both of these teams had enjoyed satisfactory starts to their respective campaigns but the last couple of results have failed to deliver victories. There will now be an emphasis on the importance to get a win here otherwise their winless runs will surely start having a psychological impact.
Everton come into this game in 8th place and have managed to accrue 14 points from their 8 league games so far suffering just 2 defeats. The Toffees have only won 1 of their last 4 league games though. Rafa Benitez has done well to win over the blue side of Merseyside thus far but if results begin to turn in a negative way then that might change quickly. The big news for the club is that Richarlison is back available after a short spell out but Yerry Mina is expected to be ruled out. Everton don't have the best of records against newly promoted teams at home having dropped points in 6 of the last 8 such games. The club have also lost 8 Premier League games at home this calendar year and have only lost more during the Premier League era on two occasions in 1993 and 2005.
Watford started a new era under Claudio Ranieri last weekend after the surprise (OK, it's Watford so maybe not entirely surprising!) sacking of Xisco. The Hornets seemed to be doing OK under Xisco but the board wanted more. The hiring of Ranieri was a controversial one given his spell at Fulham in similar circumstances that ended in failure. The team got hammered 5-0 in the Italian's first game in charge. Yes, it was a baptism of fire but it was also worrying at how disjointed and clueless Watford looked. The team are now down in 16th place and just 4 points above the drop zone. It's now 9 defeats from their last 10 top flight away league games. Ranieri himself is also without a win in his last 23 Premier League away games. However, he has won his last 4 away matches against Everton across all competitions. Watford have now gone 18 Premier League games without keeping a clean sheet though and that's a big concern.
I'm not sure what Watford were thinking sacking Xisco. They made the same mistake the last time they were in the Premier League when they got rid of both Javi Gracia and Quique Sanchez Flores. I can't see any other outcome now. Ranieri showed he couldn't recreate that Leicester magic touch with Fulham and this job feels the same. Everton are becoming a resilient and organised unit under Benitez and I can see them winning this game. There is also the statistic that Everton have never suffered defeat at home to Watford in any competition in their history.

    Crystal Palace vs Newcastle
The Premier League 3pm BST kick-offs on Saturday afternoon throw up some fascinating matches this weekend. The first I'm taking a look at is the clash between a hard-to-beat Crystal Palace side and a yet-to-win managerless Newcastle team at Selhurst Park. It'll be interesting to see how the away side respond to the sacking of Steve Bruce who actually seemed quite popular with the players.
Crystal Palace are slowly becoming a very organised and hard-working side under new manager Patrick Vieira. The Eagles are in 14th place and may have only won 1 of their 8 league games so far but they have only been defeated twice. It is hoped that the team will welcome back talisman Wilfried Zaha to the starting XI after he missed the trip to Arsenal with an illness that he caught when on international duty with the Ivory Coast. There is an opportunity here for Palace to remain unbeaten for their opening 5 home league games of a season for the first time since 1990. The team also boasts the proud achievement of scoring 9 goals in the second half of their games which is the most scored in the second half of games by any top flight team this season.
Newcastle have started life under a new regime after the recent ownership takeover but they now also begin life under a new manager. Bruce has gone and until a more permanent solution is confirmed the team will be under the temporary management of coach Graeme Jones. The Magpies are yet to win any of their 8 league games thus far and the fact they have kept just 3 clean sheets in their last 25 league matches shows how weak their defensive line has been for quite some time now. They have already conceded 19 goals in 8 matches this season failing to keep a single clean sheet. They do have hope in the return of Callum Wilson. The striker has scored 5 goals in his last 5 league appearances.
I have to say that going into this game I am all over a Crystal Palace home win. Yes, there is the statistic that Palace have only picked up 2 wins in their last 10 home league meetings with Newcastle but my feeling is that we won't see the new manager bounce from the away team given Bruce's popularity within the squad. One of their key players Allan Saint-Maximin is one example of a player who might not perform as well under a different manager. I think the Palace home win is there for the taking.

    Chelsea vs Norwich
The Premier League games on Saturday kick-off with a 12:30pm BST game between league leaders Chelsea and bottom-placed side Norwich at Stamford Bridge. The odds are all stacked against the away team coming into this game. Some have already condemned them to a relegation back to the Championship but is there any hope or evidence that we could see an upset here?
Chelsea have enjoyed a positive start to their season so far. The reigning Champions League winners are top of the table with 19 points from 8 league games, they have already won the UEFA Super Cup, progressed to the 4th Round of the EFL Cup, and are well set to qualify for the Champions League last 16 after a solid 4-0 win over Malmo in midweek. Thomas Tuchel's team will be without attacking duo Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner for this game with both picking up injuries in the midweek game. Frustrating for the Blues fans given how they probably could've won that game without those players and Tuchel did state Lukaku was tired physically and mentally heading into the game. Chelsea have lost 4 home Premier League games this calendar year and they haven't suffered 5 league defeats at home since 1995. Their defence has been the solid foundation for the club this season with the team only conceding a joint-division best of 3 goals.
Norwich continue to struggle in the top flight this season. Daniel Farke's side are sitting at the foot of the table with just 2 points from their first 8 league matches. The Canaries are already 4 points adrift of safety and the doomsayers are already out in force. To make matters worse, Billy Gilmour is ineligible to face his parent club whilst the trio of Todd Cantwell, Christoph Zimmermann, and Sam Byram are all out injured. It's now 18 Premier League games without a win for Norwich stretching back to last season. Away form at this level is just as terrible with no win in their last 16 top flight away league games. Norwich remain the only team in the Premier League yet to take a lead in a league game this season.
There isn't really a lot to say about this game other than it's doesn't seem like a case of who will win but how many Chelsea will win by. Norwich just simply aren't good enough and they won't be picking up points in games like this. I don't expect Chelsea to blow them away but I certainly anticipate a professional and disciplined victory from the home side as they continue their march towards their aim of winning the league title.

    Arsenal vs Aston Villa
The Premier League action kicks off on Friday night this weekend with Arsenal hosting Aston Villa in an 8pm BST kick-off from the Emirates Stadium. Both teams are without a win in their last two league games so there is an emphasis on the importance of halting that winless run now before it becomes a problem. The home side are the slight favourites heading into the game but should the travelling team be written off?
Arsenal had appeared to be moving in a more positive direction under Mikel Arteta after a slow start to their season. The Gunners had won three on the bounce before back-to-back draws with Brighton away and Crystal Palace at home. You could argue they were fortunate to take a point in both games. The team is now in 12th place but you feel a few positive results in a row will thrust them back into the Champions League qualification conversation. That would require consistency though and that is an issue that has plagued Arteta's tenure as Arsenal head coach. Home form remains solid though with Arsenal only losing 1 of their last 6 home league games and they are unbeaten in 5 league matches. Scoring goals is still a problem for Arsenal though with the 7 goals the team has scored being their lowest goal tally after 8 league games since 1986. If you're looking for an anytime scorer bet then Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has bagged a goal in his last 3 home league games.
Aston Villa will come into this game aiming to provide stern opposition for their hosts. Dean Smith will be delighted to welcome back the trio of Matty Cash, Leon Bailey, and Bertrand Traore. The club are in 13th place and have lost their last 2 league games conceding 5 goals in the process. Away form is a nagging problem for Villa having lost 5 of their last 8 away league games. There is evidence that Villa are slow getting into games with the team only scoring 2 of their 12 league goals so far in the first half. Two players could be the key for Villa if they're to win this game. Ollie Watkins scored 3 of the 4 goals Villa scored against Arsenal last season so he could be worth an anytime scorer bet. Former Gunners keeper Emiliano Martinez has also kept a staggering 18 clean sheets for the club since he moved to the Midlands side back in September 2020. However, history sends a warning to Villa with the club failing to win any of their last 12 away top flight league games played on a Friday.
The head-to-head record shows that Aston Villa have had the better of Arsenal over recent games and are currently on a 3-game winning streak. Is this a sign that Smith has worked Arteta out? Only Manchester City and Chelsea have beaten Arsenal more times at the Emirates Stadium than Aston Villa. I do think that this game is there to be won for Arsenal. Arteta is gambling with his youthful sides and they are making mistakes but they're learning. I think Villa's woeful away form could be the deciding factor so I'm going to back Arsenal to win. Interestingly, over 2.5 goals have been scored in each of the last 9 league meetings between these two sides at this stadium.

    Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool
The second Tuesday night game in the Champions League that I'm going to preview is the 8pm clash between Atletico Madrid and Liverpool at the Wanda Metropolitano in Group B. These two sides are currently positioned in 2nd and 1st in the group and a win here would put them on the brink of qualifying for the last 16. However, a loss could inflict irreparable damage on their morale and self-belief.
Atletico Madrid are coming off the back of a La Liga title-winning season and it appears that Diego Simeone's side are not looking any weaker this season. The Indios are 4th in La Liga at the moment but only 3 points off the top spot and they've followed a tight 0-0 draw at home to Porto in their opening group stage game with a 2-1 win away to a useful AC Milan team. Home form has been crucial for Atleti with the team remaining unbeaten in their last 12 matches on home turf. This match will see former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez face off against his old team. The Uruguayan has bagged 4 goals in his last 4 games for the Spanish champions.
Liverpool come into this game in what can only be described as close to their best form ever under Jurgen Klopp. The Reds are unbeaten in their 11 games across all competitions so far this season. Everything seems to be coming together. Liverpool look very sound defensively having kept 6 clean sheets. The team is 2nd in the Premier League and just 1 point behind league leaders Chelsea. It's also two wins from two in the Champions League after a dramatic 3-2 win at home to AC Milan was followed up with a 5-1 win away against Porto. Mohamed Salah's form has been identified as one of the key reasons behind Liverpool's superb form right now and the Egyptian has scored 10 goals in all competitions already this season.
Both of these teams are very evenly matched. It has been Atletico Madrid that have held the advantage over Liverpool in recent head-to-head meetings. In fact, Liverpool have only won 1 of their 6 encounters and Atletico Madrid won both legs when they met in the 2019/20 Champions League last 16. It's hard to bet against either side right now so I'll go for a score draw.

    Club Brugge vs Manchester City
The Champions League makes a return this week after a small time without Europe's top table competition entertaining us due to domestic and international fixtures. It's Club Brugge versus Manchester City in a 5:45pm BST kick-off at the Jan Breydelstadion on Tuesday night in Group A. Believe it or not, the home side come into this game in a stronger position in the group than the visiting team but will that still be the case come full time?
Club Brugge have put in a very commendable effort so far in this group. Manager Philippe Clement will have seen his team up against it when the group was drawn with their opponents being Manchester City, PSG, and RB Leipzig but the Belgian side are currently 2nd in the group after a superb 1-1 draw at home with PSG and a brilliant 2-1 victory away to RB Leipzig. Less than 2.5 goals have been scored in Club Brugge's last three home matches. This is a team that has only lost 1 of their 11 matches in all competitions but that was a heavy 6-1 loss away to Gent in the Belgian First Division A back on 29th August.
Manchester City come into this game knowing a loss would throw their qualification for the next phase into real doubt. Pep Guardiola's men pulled off an entertaining 6-3 win at home to RB Leipzig in their opening group game but then suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat away to PSG in their second game. The Citizens are starting to settle into their season now and will welcome back to Brazilian duo of Ederson and Gabriel Jesus after they missed the weekend win over Burnley due to international duty. Under 2.5 goals have been scored in 3 of the last 4 matches City have played including their last two victories.
Given how the Manchester City defence has really tightened up with 6 clean sheets kept already this season you have a feeling we could see a low scoring game again. Club Brugge will certainly set up in a similar manner to how they have done with an emphasis on physical play and being organised. City have faced these sorts of battles before and playing Burnley just before this game will probably help them prepare for a similar physical test. I can see City coming away with a business-like win.

    Arsenal vs Crystal Palace
Arsenal managed to consolidate after opening the season with three straight defeats, and they tied four games without losing. The Gunners celebrated three wins in a row and picked up a point in a goalless draw against Brighton on the road. However, Mikel Arteta’s side still has troubles converting its chances into goals, as they netted only five times in seven matches. On the other hand, Arsenal improved in the back, as they conceded only once in the previous four games. The hosts look forward to continuing their streak, and a potential victory would launch them to the top half of the table.
Crystal Palace is one place and three points behind its upcoming rival, and the visitors search for their second victory this season. They sit in 14th place,  being four points ahead of relegation-threatened Burnley. Patrick Vieira’s side hasn’t won on the previous three occasions, and they picked up just two points during that period. On the other hand, the Eagles lost only two matches this season, and they have been involved in many draws. Wilfried Zaha and the lads have been decent in front of the oppositions’ net, but they should tighten their defense. Crystal Palace needs to start playing much better on the road, as they have had many troubles away from home so far.
    Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction
Although Arsenal hasn’t been confident so far in the season, they have a good chance to get back on the winning track. We believe the Gunners will pick up three points in this match and improve their position on the standings.
    Goals Market Prediction
The hosts haven’t been too efficient in the first seven rounds, but they tightened their defense in the past month. Crystal Palace has issues scoring on the road, and we don’t expect to see more than two goals in total in this match.

    Newcastle vs Tottenham
The second game of the day on Sunday in the Premier League is the 4:30pm BST kick-off between a struggling Newcastle and an out-of-sorts Tottenham at St James' Park. The big news this week has been all about whether the home team manager Steve Bruce would take charge of his 1,000th game in football management and it would appear that he has been given that stay of execution.
Newcastle might be entering a new era under the controversial ownership of the Saudi Arabian government, sorry, I mean the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund... or whatever they are masquerading as. Transfers can't be made until January so, for the time being, the Magpies fans are stuck with what the club has. That includes Bruce as manager for the moment. There is a quadruple boost for the team with Callum Wilson, Jamaal Lascelles, Jonjo Shelvey, and Joe Willock all available after injuries. The team are down in 18th and have failed to secure a single win so far this season. Problems exist at both ends of the pitch with Newcastle conceding 16 goals and not managing to keep a single clean sheet in their 7 league games so far. In fact, they've only kept 2 clean sheets in their last 26 home league games. Unfortunately, Bruce has only managed to get 4 wins in 26 matches against Tottenham during his career.
Tottenham have a big opportunity to get back into decent form here. The London club are in 9th place with 4 wins and 3 defeats. The 2-1 home win over Aston Villa in their most recent outing ended a losing run of 3 league games but it was far from convincing. Nuno Espirito Santo will know that away form continues to be a problem for his Spurs team who have only managed to earn 5 wins from their last 18 away days in the league. A worrying statistic is that Tottenham currently average just 10.4 shots per game with a conversion rate of 8.2%. One optimistic stat is that Tottenham have only lost 1 of their last 18 matches against teams that start the game in the relegation zone. It is also true that 5 of the 6 goals Harry Kane has scored against Newcastle have come in this stadium.
I appreciate that there is this feelgood atmosphere around Newcastle right now but the reality is that they're still stuck with a poor manager, bang average players, and fans who will create a toxic environment around this stadium if things don't go well early on. Tottenham got back to winning ways last game and if Kane can start finding his scoring boots then this could be a difficult day for Newcastle. I expect a narrow Tottenham win. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 1-0 score-line here.

    Leicester City vs Manchester United
Although Leicester City opened the season with a win over Manchester City in the Community Shield, they cannot be happy with their current standings. The Foxes are 13th in the Premier League, and they booked only two wins so far in the season. Brendan Rodgers’s side hasn’t celebrated four times in a row, and they head to this match after two consecutive draws. Jamie Vardy and the lads haven’t been too bad in front of the oppositions’ net, but their defense should have been much tighter. Leicester City managed to beat only Wolves at King Power Stadium, and they want to improve against the big rival.
Manchester United slipped down to 4th place after picking up just a point in the previous two rounds. The Red Devils played both matches at Old Trafford and lost to Aston Villa while managing only to a draw against Everton before the international break. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side is only two points behind Chelsea, but the visitors need to improve to stay in the title race. Cristiano Ronaldo and the lads picked up where they left off when playing away from home, and they haven’t lost the last 29 games on the road. Manchester United wants to get back on the winning track and celebrate the third win at away grounds this season.
    Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction
We expect to see an exciting match in which both sides have a chance to win. However, we believe the visitors are a bit closer to picking up all three points, and Manchester United should get back home with an important victory.
    Goals Market Prediction
Head-to-head clashes between these two sides have been pretty efficient lately, and we saw at least three goals in their previous three encounters. Also, neither side managed to keep the clean sheet during that period. Therefore, we think this trend will continue, and both teams should score.

    Watford vs Liverpool
The Premier League weekend action kicks off on Saturday at 12:30pm BST when lower mid-table Watford host title contending Liverpool at Vicarage Road. On paper, the result of this one is already decided but we know how these games can go. Will we see the away team stroll to a victory or will the home side manage to upset the odds and pull off a shock win on home turf?
Watford enter this game with it being new manager Claudio Ranieri's first in charge of the club after the sacking of Xisco. The Hornets are down in 15th place and 4 points above the drop zone. Xisco's departure did seem a little harsh given the newly promoted side haven't had a bad start to the season but this is the Watford board for you. Ranieri will have to cope without the duo of Christian Kabasele and Francisco Sierallta who are both injured. Watford are on a run of 17 league games in the top flight without keeping a clean sheet so Ranieri will be keen to tighten that back-line up. There is also optimism in the fact that Ranieri has won 4 of his last 5 home league matches against Liverpool.
Liverpool are in 2nd place in the league and just 1 point behind league leaders Chelsea. Jurgen Klopp's men remain the only team in the top flight that are still undefeated. The Reds boast the longest unbeaten run at 17 league games across the top four divisions in English football. There is a chance for the club to make history here by becoming the first English team in the top flight to score 3 or more goals in 7 straight away games. Sadio Mane could also create history by becoming just the third African player behind Didier Drogba and Mohamed Salah to score 100 goals or more in the Premier League. He could also become just the third player in Premier League history to score that many goals without any coming from the penalty spot after Emile Heskey and Les Ferdinand.
I'm not sure we can see anything other than a Liverpool win here despite Watford winning the last meeting back in February 2020 that ended Liverpool club record of 44 league games unbeaten and Ranieri boasting such a good home league record against Liverpool. The away team come into this in resilient form and I fully expect them to get the job done. I'm not convinced Ranieri is the right appointment for Watford but we'll see.

    Aston Villa vs Wolves
It's a West Midlands Derby in the 3pm BST kick-offs in the Premier League this Saturday when Aston Villa and Wolves are set to face each other at Villa Park. Both teams are currently situated in mid-table having experienced mixed results at the start of their campaign but this game offers a chance of another 3 points that could help move them on up into the upper echelons of the table.
Aston Villa have had a summer of changes but it seems like Dean Smith has navigated his side through this period of transition well. The team are in 10th place in the league having earned 10 points thus far. The team have suffered the blow that Leon Bailey is unlikely to be available in time for this game. It's now 5 league games without defeat for Villa. An interesting statistic is that goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has kept a clean sheet in all three of his league appearances against Wolves. There is also a potential outside tip for anytime scorer. Striker Danny Ings has failed to score in his last 5 league games so you could argue that the former Southampton front man is due a goal.
Wolves are another side that have undergone some big changes this summer with Nuno Espirito Santo departing the club for Tottenham with Bruno Lage coming in as his replacement. Wanderers are in 12th position having tallied 9 points so far. It was a slow start for the team who lost their opening 3 league games of the season without scoring a goal but it's been back-to-back victories and 3 wins from their last 4 league games. They have the potential to equal their club record in the Premier League of three away wins in a row. If they keep a clean sheet it'll be the first time since 1960 that they've managed that in the top flight for 3 matches in a row.
There is one statistic that Aston Villa fans won't want to hear and that's that Wolves are unbeaten in the last 5 league meetings between these two clubs at Villa Park. Statistics also show that both of these teams have failed to score in the first half of 80% of their league games this season suggesting they both tend to start matches slowly in the Premier League. Not a lot separates these two teams and I can foresee this ending in a bore draw.

    Chelsea vs Manchester City
The hosts sit on the top of the Premier League along with Liverpool and Manchester United, and they look pretty confident so far. Thomas Tuchel’s side missed the chance to win just once, and just Liverpool held them to a draw. The Blues head to this game after beating Arsenal 3:0 last weekend, and they recorded four straight wins in all competitions. Timo Werner and the lads had some troubles against Aston Villa in the EFL Cup during the mid-week, but they managed to beat them after the penalty shootout. Chelsea has been almost unbeatable in the back so far, as the home side conceded only once in five rounds. If they pick up where they left off, Chelsea might celebrate another victory over the Citizens.
The away side had a hiccup in the Premier League last weekend, as they booked a goalless draw against Southampton at home. They scored six against RB Leipzig in the Champions League and repeated that record against Wycombe in the EFL Cup during the mid-week. Pep Guardiola’s side is already three points behind the leading three clubs, and another defeat to the Blues might hurt their title bid. Manchester City also allowed only one goal in the Premier League so far, but they spilled five points. It will be the biggest challenge for Jack Grealish and the lads so far, and they need to remain disciplined if they want o get back home undefeated.
    Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction
It is going to be an exciting clash that can go either way. Manchester City searches for revenge, and they will try to pick up all three points. However, Chelsea plays very well, and we believe the hosts will snatch at least a draw.
    Goals Market Prediction
Head-to-head clashes between these two sides have been pretty tight lately. Both teams are very tough to crack in the back, but they possess great attacking potential. Therefore, we expect to see goals in both nets in this one.

    Chelsea vs Manchester City
The Premier League action kicks off this weekend with a 12:30pm BST start on Saturday lunch-time between title contending rivals Chelsea and Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. This could prove to be one of those games that's the difference between winning the title and finishing off the pace. Can either team prevail victorious or will these two brilliant squads battle out a draw?
Chelsea have looked every bit the genuine title contenders already this season. The reigning Champions League winners have started their season in excellent form unbeaten after 8 competitive matches. Thomas Tuchel's men have managed to keep 5 clean sheets during that period and have conceded just 1 goal in the league emphasising the importance of the defensive foundation of their philosophy. The Blues are hoping that the duo of Edouard Mendy and Christian Pulisic are both fit for this game. It will be crucial for Chelsea to get the a half-time lead because the club haven't lost in 91 Premier League home games where they have been leading at half-time. It'll be interesting to see how top scorer Romelu Lukaku performs against City here having only scored 5 goals in 16 domestic appearances against City and having failed to score in his last 4 games against them.
Manchester City will see this game as a chance to inflict a huge psychological blow onto a close title rival. Pep Guardiola's men have already suffered a defeat in the league this campaign in their opening game versus Tottenham but have looked irresistible since then with 3 wins and 1 draw without a single goal conceded. The Citizens are sweating on a number of first team players who are injury doubts for this game including John Stones, Rodri, Aymeric Laporte, Ilkay Gundogan, and Oleksandr Zinchenko. Scoring goals isn't proving as consistently effortless for City as previous seasons under Guardiola. The club have now failed to score in 2 league games already and if they fail to score here will have failed to score in back-to-back matches under Guardiola for the first time. A loss here would also leave City with their worst points tally at this stage of the season since 2013. It's also disconcerting for City fans that Guardiola has lost more games (8) against Chelsea than any other opponent.
This clash cannot be underplayed. Both Chelsea and Manchester City are hot favourites for the Premier League title and a loss for either side here could be hugely detrimental. Guardiola is at risk of losing four straight matches against an opponent for the first time in his managerial career. However, it was Manchester City who prevailed as 3-1 winners in this fixture last season. I'm not sure I can separate the two sides. I feel Chelsea probably just have an edge but I think the fact neither team wants to lose will see a rather conservative and low-scoring game.

    Manchester United vs Aston Villa
There isn't just one game kicking off at 12:30pm BST on Saturday lunchtime. Yes, that's right! There's two! In the other game, it's Manchester United versus Aston Villa at Old Trafford. As two title rivals are going at it in the other match, one of the other pre-season favourites for the title are looking to continue their positive start to the season with a win on home turf but will it come easily?
Manchester United currently sit joint top of the Premier League on 13 points from 5 league matches with Liverpool and Chelsea only positioned higher due to a superior goal difference. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men have had their moments of vulnerability exposed though. The 1-1 draw away to Southampton in the league, 2-1 loss away to Young Boys in the Champions League, and the 1-0 defeat away to West Ham in the EFL Cup are all matches where you'd have expected the Red Devils to come out on top. This is only the second time in 10 seasons that United have gone their opening 5 league games undefeated. Unfortunately, the worrying statistic is that all of Manchester United's last 7 Premier League defeats have come at home. However, United have scored in 15 consecutive home league games. Defence still appears to be a weakness for United with the team potentially failing to keep a clean sheet for 8 consecutive league home matches for the first time since 1971/72.
Aston Villa have lacked the consistency needed to build up any kind of momentum so far this season. Dean Smith's team are in 10th place with just 7 points from their 5 league games so far. A 3-0 win at home to Everton in their most recent game has given them a chance here to push on make it back-to-back league wins. The team will be boosted by the courageous display in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea that sadly ended with the Blues going through with a 4-3 win on penalties. Away form is a concern though. Villa have lost both of their away league games so far and have suffered 5 losses in their last 8 away league games. In fact, only Southampton have lost more than Villa's 8 away league matches in 2021 from the current Premier League teams. It's also 8 Premier League away games without a clean sheet.
Head-to-head records are not something Aston Villa fans will want to look at when it comes to Manchester United. Villa have only managed 1 win in their last 45 Premier League meetings with United. That did come at Old Trafford back in December 2009 though. That has been United's only defeat in 34 home competitive games against Villa as well. I have a feeling Manchester United will extend that winning record here with a comfortable victory.

    Everton vs Norwich
The Premier League has a range of 3pm BST kick-offs coming up on Saturday afternoon. The first of those matches I will be previewing is the clash between Everton and Norwich at Goodison Park. Can the home team bounce back after last weekend's loss to Aston Villa's de-stabilised their encouraging start against an away team that have so far really struggled to adapt to life back in the top flight?
Everton had appeared to be starting life under former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez in a very positive manner. Unfortunately, a 3-0 loss away to mid-table Aston Villa stunted that but there's still hope the club can hit back. The departure of James Rodriguez has left a cloud of disappointment over the blue side of Merseyside but with that unsavoury chapter closed it's time to focus back on the league. Richarlison, Jordan Pickford, Seamus Coleman, and, potentially, Jean-Philippe Gbamin are all unavailable for this game so it's a severely weakened Toffees team. There is the opportunity for Everton to win their opening three home league games to a season for the first time since 1989. However, history does send a warning with Everton having lost their home league game against the previous season's Championship title winners in each of their last three campaigns. Benitez could be the difference though with the Spaniard only losing 1 of his 6 meetings against Norwich.
Norwich have had a tough start to their season. Daniel Farke's side have lost every single one of their 5 league matches so far and they've not even looked close to securing a win in any of those matches. Not even against fellow promoted Watford. The Canaries have now lost their opening 5 league games of a season for the first time in their history. If you saw their performance against Liverpool's reserve team in the EFL Cup in midweek then they already look like a side devoid of any confidence or belief. Farke himself has become the first manager to lose 15 consecutive Premier League games. The club now boasts the second longest top flight losing streak of all-time with Sunderland's 20 matches lost in a row between 2003 and 2005 their target! It'll be key for Norwich not to concede first because they have lost 43 of the last 44 Premier League matches where that has happened.
I appreciate that Norwich have won on their past two visits to Goodison Park and Everton have recently struggled against title winners of the second tier from the previous season at home but this Norwich side looks so bad this season. It really is tough to see where their first win, or any points in fact, will come from. Even a severely weakened Everton side should get the job done with Benitez having the managerial nous to navigate them through this challenge.

    Leeds vs West Ham
The second 3pm BST kick-off on Saturday afternoon that I'm taking a look at in the Premier League is an encounter between Leeds and West Ham at Elland Road. The home team are enduring a slow start to their league campaign having yet to secure a win this season but they will be looking to get their first against a visiting side that have been faltering in the league as of late.
Leeds were a breath of fresh air in the top flight last season with their intense pressing style of play but have so far failed to replicate that level of performance this season. Marcelo Bielsa has stated he has no intention of shifting his philosophy to address the poor start to the campaign but after failing to win any of their opening 5 league games in the top flight for the first time since 1946 and currently sitting in 17th place with just 3 points you have to wonder how long his stubbornness will last. One big worry for the Whites is the fact they have conceded 12 goals in those 5 league matches. Bielsa will also potentially have to contend without a number of key first team players including Patrick Bamford, Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, and Pascal Struijk. There are also concerns over Raphinha, Jack Harrison, and Luke Ayling.
West Ham have looked strong at times this season but form is starting to wilt as the season progresses. David Moyes saw his team win their opening two league games but it's been 3 league matches without a win since. The Hammers did pick up a 1-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the EFL Cup 3rd Round in midweek so how will that boost the team's morale? Away form has remained strong with West Ham now unbeaten in their last 5 away league games. Michail Antonio is back but he hasn't scored a goal against Leeds in 9 appearances. West Ham might need to call on their other in-form attacker Said Benrahma who has been directly involved in 5 goals in his last 5 appearances for the East Londoners including 3 goals.
There is the opportunity here for West Ham to win three consecutive league games against Leeds for the first time since 1949. Leeds are in poor form at the moment and they are vulnerable. Especially if most of these absentee concerns end up becoming true. I do feel Leeds will start picking up points soon but the longer this winless run goes on the harder it will be to break. I just think this is a game West Ham could win.

    Leicester vs Burnley
The penultimate preview from the 3pm BST kick-offs on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League comes from the King Power Stadium where Leicester play Burnley. Both teams have probably had what will be described as underwhelming starts to their league campaigns. Will this game provide an opportunity to get themselves back on to a positive footing or will more misery be sent their way?
Leicester were being tipped as a team that could continue to evolve under Brendan Rodgers this season but it's all fallen a bit flat so far. The 1-0 win over Manchester City in the FA Community Shield promised great things but just 2 wins from their 5 league games so far has left the club down in 12th place and already 6 points off the pace of the Champions League places. The Foxes have now lost 6 of their last 9 league matches stretching back to last season. Rodgers himself comes into this game having won all 5 home matches he's managed against Burnley. Defence is still a concern for Leicester with just 1 clean sheet kept in their last 11 league games but the return to fitness of experienced centre back Jonny Evans could give that frail back-line a boost. Striker Jamie Vardy has also re-discovered his scoring touch bagging 5 goals in his last 6 league games.
Burnley have become perennial slow starters and it's the same old, same old happening this season. Sean Dyche's men are down in 19th place with just 1 point gained from their 5 league games so far. Only Norwich are below them with zero points. The Clarets have only won 4 times in their last 24 league matches but each of those victories have come on the road. Unfortunately, it is just 1 point gained from their last 8 league games going back into last season. Fitness appears to be an issue with Burnley already dropping 8 points this season from winning positions. A potential tip for anytime scorer is striker Chris Wood who has scored 4 goals against his former club Leicester including having scored in both of his last two visits to this stadium.
If you're looking for history to give you a hint about which way this game could go then the fact that Leicester unbeaten in their last 10 home league games against Burnley should convince you. Leicester may well be off the pace of their performances last season but you still feel they will get back to their best under Rodgers sooner or later. Burnley appear to be running out of ideas and inspiration under Dyche and I'm a lot more concerned for them this season. Leicester to win this one.

    Watford vs Newcastle
The final 3pm BST kick-off on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League that I'm covering is the slightly underwhelming game of newly promoted Watford versus the gloomiest club in the top flight Newcastle at Vicarage Road. Neither of these bottom half of the table teams are lighting the league on fire and a defeat here could be seriously detrimental to their morale.
Watford have shown moments of enough quality to make you think they'll be OK this season. The opening day 3-2 win over Aston Villa and the 3-1 destruction of fellow newly promoted Norwich in their most recent game. On the flip side, the three defeats that those two wins sandwiched have also shown how fragile Watford's form can be. It seems to be a case of feast or famine on the scoring front as well with 3 goals scored in each league win but no goals scored in all three of the defeats. The defence is also in need of some addressing with the Hornets failing to keep a single clean sheet yet in the league. Home form continues to be strong with Watford winning 13 of their last 15 home league matches but the majority of those came in the Championship. Ismaila Sarr's importance to the team is now more prevalent than ever with the Senegalese attacker scoring 3 goals, having 13 shots, creating 9 chances, and completing 16 dribbles.
Newcastle remain the club that everyone wishes would just have new owners so we could stop hearing the fans moan about Mike Ashley and the "Cockney Mafia". The Magpies are down in 18th place with just 2 points from their 5 league matches. Steve Bruce's side are without a single win in any competition this season having drawn 0-0 with Burnley before losing 4-3 on penalties in the EFL Cup 2nd Round. This is the 4th time in the last 7 seasons that Newcastle have failed to win any of their opening 5 league games. Striker Callum Wilson remains ruled out and that's bad news given that Newcastle have only won 2 of the 14 league matches they have played without Wilson in the team. This is also the worst start to a season Bruce has ever experienced in his 14 seasons managing at this level.
I mean, let's be honest, you'd have to be a mad man to back Newcastle to win at the moment. The only team I'd fancy them to beat right now would be Norwich and they'd undoubtedly make a meal of that. Watford are lacking consistency right now but I'd fancy them to get a result here. Newcastle still have a game changer in Allan Saint-Maximin but he has a peer in Sarr. I was tempted by the draw but I do think Watford could sneak it.

    Brentford vs Liverpool
The final game in the Premier League on Saturday is the 5:30pm BST kick-off between newly promoted Brentford and one of the pre-season bookies' favourites to win the title Liverpool at the Brentford Community Stadium. It's a true David versus Goliath affair with many already writing off the home side but is there any chance the visiting team could slip up in this one?
Brentford started their top flight campaign with a bang by beating local rivals Arsenal 2-0 in their opening game of the season and it's been a case of the points tally slowly ticking over ever since. Just 1 defeat from their first 5 league games is very good going for the Londoners and the 2-0 win away to Wolves in their most recent league outing will have done squad morale wonders. The Bees are also through to the EFL Cup 4th Round having scored 10 goals and conceded just 1 goal in their two matches in that cup competition so far. Thomas Frank's side have been defensively sound in the league having conceded just 2 goals with only Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City boasting better defensive records. Since the start of last season, no player in the top four divisions of English football has scored more goals than Ivan Toney's tally of 33 league goals.
Liverpool have come back with a bang this season after their injury-hit 2020/21 campaign. The Reds are 2nd in the table but level on points with first placed Chelsea and only behind on goal difference. It's an unbeaten start to Jurgen Klopp's side's league season with just 1 goal conceded after 5 league games which is a feat the club haven't achieved since 1977. The team have won 3-0 in three of their league matches already. Liverpool currently boast the longest unbeaten run in English football of 15 matches since they last tasted defeat. Corners have proven particularly fruitful for Liverpool since the start of last season with the club scoring 16 goals from corners during that period. Mohamed Salah could be worth backing to score anytime in this game to become just the 13th Premier League player to reach 100 league goals.
Well, it's been a long time since these two clubs last met back in 1989. It's the first time since 1947 that they've clashed in the league. So you can throw the head-to-head records out of the window. Which will please Brentford fans given the fact they haven't notched up a competitive win over Liverpool since 1938. I can't see that changing here. I think Liverpool will cruise to a business-like win.

    Southampton vs Wolves
The Premier League action continues into Sunday with the first game coming up at 2pm BST as two struggling sides in Southampton and Wolves go head-to-head at St Mary's Stadium. Neither team will be happy with how their respective league campaigns have started so it's key they avoid defeat here. Will either team have the courage to go for all 3 points or is this a "must not lose" game already?
Southampton were being tipped by a number of pundits and tipsters, including myself, to struggle this season and so far they are being proved correct. The Saints are down in 15th place without a win recorded this season but on the positive side they have also only lost 1 of their first 5 league games. Those 4 draws against Manchester United, Newcastle, West Ham, and Manchester City have shown they can grind out results against the best teams but can also fail to take all 3 points against the teams they should be looking to beat. Ralph Hasenhuttl will be reeling after the injury to Jack Stephens. The experiment to give Lyanco his debut didn't exactly work in midweek against Sheffield United in the EFL Cup so it'll be interesting to see who the Austrian manager opts for at the back. This is the first time since 2000 that Southampton have failed to win any of their opening 5 league matches in the top flight.
Wolves knew this season would be tough going after the departure of former head coach Nuno Espirito Santo but there was hope that Bruno Lage could hit the ground running. Wanderers are down in 16th with 4 losses from their first 5 league games. The big issue for Wolves has been a failure to turn their dominant spells into chances and goals. It's now 7 losses from the last 8 league games for Wolves going back into last season. The team have scored just 2 goals but have an expected goals ratio of 9.2 which is the 3rd highest in the division. The big question is when will striker Raul Jimenez break his scoring duck? It's now 9 league matches since the Mexican front man hit the onion bag. Is he the same player after his fractured skull?
The head-to-head meetings record doesn't look good for Southampton with the south coast side winning just 1 of the last 10 league meetings. Wolves have won on their last two visits to this stadium but those victories did come under the management of Santo. I am worried for Wolves this season. It feels a lot like how Sheffield United's season began last year. I'm not sure I can see them winning this one either. I think a narrow home win is on the cards.

    Arsenal vs Tottenham
The main game on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League is the 4:30pm BST kick-off between North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium. It was only a matter of weeks ago that the league table showed the home team sitting bottom of the table and the away side looking own on their enemies from the summit. A lot has already changed during that time so which way will this derby game go?
Arsenal had an appalling start to the league season losing their first 3 league games of the season without scoring a single goal. Mikel Arteta appeared to be heading down a one way street to sack city but back-to-back wins in the league against Norwich and Burnley have borrowed him some time. Even if both wins weren't the most convincing with the 1-0 score-lines. The Gunners can match a record set in 1910/11 of just 2 goals scored after 6 league games if they fire a blank here. You can't say Arteta isn't giving the kids a chance. The team boast an average age of 24 years and 328 days which is the youngest in the top flight this season. A tip for anytime scorer is Alexandre Lacazette who has scored in his last 3 home league games against Tottenham.
Tottenham will believe this is a fantastic chance to notch up a derby win over their arch rivals. Spurs find themselves in 7th place but it has now been back-to-back 3-0 defeats for Nuno Espirito Santo's men. Spurs also have a terrible record against fellow London clubs having lost their last three league games against such clubs. However, Santo himself lost just 1 of his 6 meetings with Arsenal when he was Wolves head coach. This will be a game that Tottenham fans hope Harry Kane finally starts to score. The England striker has yet to score in the league but he possesses a high of 11 goals in 14 North London derbies. Only Wayne Rooney has scored more league goals against Arsenal than Kane.
This is set to be one of the most intriguing North London derbies in some time. Arsenal are very fragile at the moment but slowly improving their results. Tottenham look very solid at their best but have started to slip lately with Kane looking way off his best form. I do think Santo could be the difference maker here. He clearly knew how to get the better of this Arsenal side and I can see his Tottenham team strolling into the Emirates and coming away with a narrow one goal win.

    Chelsea vs Zenit St Petersburg
The reigning Champions League champions Chelsea kickstart their group stage campaign at home against Russian Premier League club Zenit St Petersburg in an 8pm BST kick-off on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge. Can the current trophy holders begin the defence of their title in the best way possible with a win or can the visiting side cause a shock of seismic proportions?
Chelsea surprised a lot of people by winning last season's Champions League but the way they have performed under head coach Thomas Tuchel since he arrived midway through last season shows that they are now one of the most in-form club teams in European football. The signing of striker Romelu Lukaku has only added to their embarrassment of riches. The Blues have only been denied top spot in the Premier League by virtue of goal difference. The bad news ahead of this game is that the duo of N'Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic have been ruled out. It is now 11 group stage games unbeaten for the London club though. They have also won 5 of their 6 meetings with Russian sides in the Champions League.
Zenit St Petersburg are one of the surprise packages to be involved in the group stage of this year's competition. Head coach Sergei Semak did a cracking job getting his team to this stage after guiding them to the Russia Premier League title last season. His team has continued that fine domestic form by storming to the top of the league table this term with 5 wins and 2 draws from their opening 7 league matches. Unfortunately, last season's Champions League suggests that Zenit still have work to do on the European front having lost each of their away trips by at least 2 goals last campaign. An issue of ill discipline was also evident with Zenit conceding a penalty in all three of their group stage defeats on the road.
You have to commend Tuchel on the job he's done at Chelsea since he's come in. It can be argued that Frank Lampard laid the foundations but Tuchel has certainly taken the team to the next level. They were worthy winners of the Champions League last season and are rightly being touted as favourites for this year's competition and the Premier League title. Zenit St Petersburg could be in for a tough night here.

    Everton vs Burnley
The hosts started the season well, and they collected seven points from the first three rounds. Everton opened the campaign with a 3:1 victory over Southampton, while they picked up a point in Leeds after a 2:2 draw. Rafael Benitez’s side heads to this game after a 2:0 win over Brighton on the road and wants to keep up the form. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been producing one goal per match on average, and the home fans expect him to continue being clinical. A potential victory in this clash could lift the Toffees to the joint-top spot along with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool.
On the other hand, Burnley struggles at the beginning of the campaign, as they picked up just a point s far. The away side remained undefeated only against Leeds at home just before the international break. Sean Duche’s side has trouble converting its chances into goals, as they netted only two times in three matches. Nevertheless, Burnley hasn’t been bad in defense, as they conceded five goals. James Tarkowski and the lads need to improve their game to get out of the danger zone, as they are currently right below the red line.
    Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction
Although the home side had been very bad at Goodison Park last season, it seems they improved their home form. Everton is a favorite in this clash, and we believe the hosts will meet expectations and pick up the new three points.
    Goals Market Prediction
Recent encounters of these two sides at Goodison Park haven’t been too productive, and we expect a similar scenario on Monday. Burnley has been very inefficient so far, and this match should stay under a 2.5 margin.
