Two doubles and one treble today.

Only four selections today.  I do like Mauricio 5.35 Catt 3.33 and 6.30 Win Indian Raj 3.0 but I don’t like their prices so I won’t be backing them.

     Doubles:

    (A)   2.15 Ling (5) Zappiness 11/4, 6.10 Bang(5) Red Inca 9/2 = £4 v £82.48

    (B)   5.30 Win ((6) Tone The Baron 7/2, 7.0 Win (8) High Acclaim 3/1 = £4 V £72.00

    Treble:

    (1)    2.15 Ling Zappiness, 5.30 Win Tone The Barone and  6.10 Bang High Acclaim = £2 V £185.62

    Total = £10 staked today.

    Results Update:

Well, now you know why I don’t put great store by short-priced favourites.  Magical Effect was sent off 13/8F. It could only finish 3rd beaten 1.75 lengths.  As Jenny Pitman used to say “It doesn’t matter how much money you put on a horse, it won’t make it run any faster”. Had it won I would have received £57.50 for the double and £129.38 for the treble = £186.88.  Not to be  though

I’m not complaining as I did at least get yet another double in for £82.50 less £16 = £66.50 on the day. Guess what I am now in accumulated profit and having a great run in August after allowing for a brought forward loss of £320 from July. This is an equivalent of £356.96/£2538.61 = 14% ROI.  Not bad for mug punters bets eh?

    Original Bank £2,538.61 ADD £36.96 = £2,575.57 C/Fwd ROI N/A

Two winners in a double yesterday paid £52.50 (instead of £42.24) hence a £32.50 profit on the day.  This was my strongest double and it was a pity that Lord Of The Alps came second as I would have had at least another £63.36 treble

@Kingmambo. One thing I will say is that no matter how one selects their bets you will find that the horses just do not perform as they should do.  I can still remember backing Mustashary in a op class race.  All it had to do was replicate what it did in its last recent race to win.  It did not.  I wasted too much money on selecting just 3 runners for my Trixies in July.  I have now found it much better to have a wider range of selections in the hope that at least some of these beasts go and do what they should do according to form.  I purposely choose what are deemed to be "trappy" or "open" races because I believe that the bookies have the races with short priced favourites sewn up.
I am beginning to have real fun with my strategy now and will continue in this vein as I feel that it will come good very soon.
Best of luck with your strategy.  Do you have any results that I can look at so as to compare with my selection and betting method?

    TRIXIE SELECTIONS TODAY

    3.0 Str (1) Young Wolf 11/4, 3.15 N Abb (3) Riviere Argentee 7/2, 5.35 NAbb ((13) Alanjou 7/2 = £20 stake with the potential return of £649.69

Young Wolf has potentially more potential than others at the increased distance

River Argentee is running very well; I don’t buy it that it needs cut in the ground to win.

Alanjou is up 10lbs but is in great form so I’ll stick with this one.

    TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE

At last at least a double for the month.  One winner 9/4F, one 2nd 3/1J and a winner at 11/4.  BOG meant that I received £80 less £20 = a profit of £60 on the day.

Losing out on £620 for the Trixie was a bit of a disappointment and I know that hindsight is no sight but I did wonder why Makzeem finished 4 lengths ahead of George William when the latter finished 2.25 lengths in front when they both last met.  Makzeem was 5lbs better off for the 2.25 lengths beating AND it was noted that Makzeem was squeezed for room on that occasion.  Although the media experts made noises about the prospects of Makzeem winning soon,  all the big boys were recommending that George William would once again finish in front.  Only RP Ratings plus one other RP tipster supported Makseem.  For my part, I have learnt that I must look more closely into the form book when one horse has run against another fancied runner.  The markets too were either influenced by the media hype or somehow accepted that George William would prevail. This is not sour grapes but just a warning not to just accept what the experts say without doing a bit of further research.
