morlspin
Hi all Many of you have asked about the next PLWSOP event. Well im pleased to say the wheels are in motion and we are considering a number of options in which i need you guys to decide the outcome. Its basically a money over value situation and its not proving easy to sort out so we can get a balance. 2 venues are in discussions with us. Im gonna ask for thoughts and ideas over the next week or so to guage whats best for the forum and its players. Venues are: Coventry G Casino Newcastle G Casino The problem is: Newcastle should be a free venue as this was discussed a few weeks ago and with this means we have a lot of added value to add instead of paying for the casino etc Coventry will cost us money and therefore the added value is less. The added value im hoping to secure is as follows: GUKPT Seat for the ME Winner GUKPT Omaha Seat for the Omaha Winner Cash added for a further side event If we go with Coventry, we will lose the 2nd and 3rd added value but still hopefully have the gukpt seat available to use. Newcastle remains best value, but would players travel that far? It seems a long distance to come from the guys from the south of england, however its an hour on the plane from gatwick, southampton, bristol and exeter, also heathrow, cardiff and stanstead are all direct and should be no more than £60 return if booked in advance, throw into the mix that a train from the midlands, london and scotland will cost less than £35 return if booked in advance and is no more than 3hrs away Im also looking to secure hotels at a cheaper rate, i know this is possible in Newcastle, and will try in Coventry too but cannot guarantee. So......before we decide, I want a general consensus as to what the best option is and if theres anything else to consider etc, this is YOUR event, not mine, and it needs deliberating with everyone to accomodate us all! Thanks and I hope this thread is mega busy soon!
teaulc
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread nice one Graeme, October is out for me as that clashes with the APAT weekend in Luton and i am committed to playing the Pro League in that one. as one of the people who probably has furthest to travel i would still favour Newcastle. obviously no joy with DTD then? ColU_FC
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread Linda and I can't do either of those dates, so I'm afraid, "we're out".
morlspin
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread Dave, the dates are not set as yet so dont rule yourself out if possible, i want as many players to attend as possible so if those dates dont suit, what dates would? We are at a very early stage in plannig here so lots of opportunity to change

morlspin
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread Ok Date vote removed, lets get the venue sorted for now and we can then see what dates are available at the venue before posting up some dates later:ok
BAM
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread Voted for both as it is between a rock and a hard place. I'm in Vegas until 11th September so 18th onwards will be fine but I may also be at the APAT Dublin 25/9 Luton 23/10 and I'll probably do the Gala Edinburgh 30/10 but I'm not important ;) just chose a venue and date and lets rock. Washman
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread I voted Coventry - decent casino and cheap rooms next door if its a weekend with no football on, also its much more central for everyone :ok
Dave488
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread Voted newcastle as from a selfish point of view its closer:tongue2, which if its in september would be easier as will be flat out at work, but if its in october work should have calmed down a bit so would be able to make to coventry too.:ok

avongirl
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread I don't think there's much between them for distance for us so if the Newcastle room comes for free and we can therefore put more into the prizes then that wins for me. We've Doncaster racing on 11 Sept (Leger Day) and 23 Oct but otherwise diary looks clear. (views expressed are mine only ;))
spannerjago
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread I've voted Coventry for purely selfish reasons. It's a long old poke from Plymouth to Geordie land and flying from Plymouth is a stupid price and it's only slightly cheaper from Exeter. A 3hr drive to Coventry is much more acceptable. gazza
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread I'm going to try and make this one so voting for 2 reasons..... Newcastle The added value with free venue and Party central.............(Just cant imagine the girls in short skirts will be the same in Coventry :D)

Burnley Joe
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread Yeah coventry is prob better for me, but i dont really care, just make sure it dont class with Boyle torney in Dublin
morlspin
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread A question here for the people who have voted so far: If the venue is NOT the one you voted for, will you still attend? We usually get 30-40 for DTD (reason its not there now is price and price only) but im hoping for the same or more wherever we host it. Ill be there regardless:ok

voiceofjoe
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread Voted Coventry - I'm not overly keen on forking out for a Hotel for an extra night(s). If its early start for Omaha as lasttime, then I can probably travel from Home at a reasonable time and get there ready for start. Whereas Newcastle would mean a very early start or staying in a hotel Night before, plus I can still drive home after the events finished - whereas a Newcastle event would mean another overnight stay. We went to Newcastle for the NPF team Event in May and it was a bloody expensive weekend only cushioned by the fact that I had a share of the Individual winner. Taxis were expensive as where Hotels in Town near the Casino.:spank If its at Newcastle it would be very doubtful I'll attend.
SpurMan
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread Voted Coventry for the same reason as Dave voted for Newcastle, but not a problem if Newcastle wins. Only an hour on the plane as Grae says, and the added value would be better admittedly. Either Sept or October is fine for me, so long as it is not the first week of Sept as it's my Dad's 70th:loon

In answer to Grahams question I think the £72 room cost (maybe halved if I share) plus nearly £200 air fare (which could be reduced by flying from Exeter) plus beer plus poker plus food makes Newcastle a little too expensive for me. The date will also make a difference as I'm playing football in Barbados at the begining of October. :D
morlspin
Re: Punterslounge WSOP 2010 Thread Just an example Spencer but: Bristol to Newcastle return Leave Sat Morning, Back Sunday Afternoon = £59 Hotel inc discount im looking at = £30 per night (£15 share) Total £74 Not too bad baring in mind the people who have attended DTD in the previous years all had transport costs and hotel costs too, which were considerably more than that price above:ok
