Folkestone - 22nd July

Recommended Posts

Off to Folkestone tonight and although it's not the best of cards (as usual) a few of the favourites look very strong. 6.00 - Stefanki - 4/6 VC Only 5 runners go to post with this one looking by far the strongest. Landed a gamble lto very easily and a 6lb rise shouldnt be enough to stop him. Ran well on turf before and hasnt got to beat much. Short odds but hard to look elsewhere. 6.30 - Anjomarba 7/1 VC & Maoi Chinn Tire 9/2 VC Both of these have got a chance on these terms, both do well in this company and the trip/ground isnt a problem. 7.05 - Rosa Midnight 6/1 PP This one ran well on debut 12 lengths behind Date With Destiny, very green but showed promise staying on final 2 furlongs and can improve from that run. From a decent stable and Hayley Turner a decent booking. 7.05 - Orsett Lad 9/2 WH Has been tried over a variety of trips but 7f/1m seems to be his best. Has ran well on firmer ground before and is 2lb below last winning mark. Sheila Toss looks priced up based on the Hannon/Hughes factor and Resuscitator has little form apart from a half decent run lto. 8.10 - Allannah Abu 4/7 VC Looking for the hat trick here and by the way she won lto that shouldnt be a problem. 12lb penalty to content with but Rosie Jessop claims 5 back. Trip and ground not a problem and should prove to strong. 8.40 - Psychic Ability 7/4 VC His maiden win over a mile at Nottingham where he beat Dandino by 4 lengths is looking very strong in this field. Hasnt ran since then but Godolphin should have this one ready and any kind of improvement should be enough to take this.

Re: Folkestone - 22nd July 18:30 Folkestone This will most likely finish dead last, and I do look a bit silly tipping up something with a mark of 33 when the top rated has one of 74, but Derby Desire is interesting now with the Donovan yard and their record here, as well as the huge drop in trip. Had a brief look at the trainers course form and D.Donovan's is very good, in the past 5 seasons he has a record of 2/2 (100%). One of these wins came under Andrea Azteni, who also has a very good record here for all trainers of 3/9 (33.3%). On that form along the horse is worth a small investment. Derby Desire's form is, well terrible. Having been campaigned over a mile or further usually. However, led for a fair bit of the race last time out, and the 6f may be more her distance. Closely related to a couple of sprint winners who mainly ran well over 5-6f. 8-10f is obviously too far. Would have thought they'd have given up on the horse if she was useless by now (being 6yo) and the trainer switch indicates one last chance. Slightly backed lto and maybe worth a small investment. 0.2pts EW @ 50/1 Bet365 BOG
