York 14th May (Dante Meeting Day 3)

Recommended Posts

2.10 York Another fantastic looking handicap, Dangerous Midge won mightly impressively last time out on seasonal reappearance, lightly raced unexposed and open to plenty of improvement having won by over 5lengths easily in a decent enough field 11lb rise in weights could be easily overturned today as he has all the credentials of a potentially smart group performer, step up in trip certainly does look a problem and I am really sweet on him. The other interesting runner is Shadows Lengthening who again should be up with the pace although wide draw isnt ideal, but he showed he is just as capable on turf as on the aw when 3rd last time out off a mark of 92 up a 1lb for that and returns to a trip in which he has won over 4 times and more experienced jockey steps in for this tricky job of getting him to the front in a big field. 0.5pt e/w dangerous midge 13/2 Hills 0.25pt e/w shadows lengthening 25/1 VCBet

Re: York 14th May (Dante Meeting Day 3) 1.40 York Only a smattering of form to go on here and half of the field bring winning last time out form to the table including Geesala and Turn The Tide. However, its hard to get a true handle on their form and the pair to concentrate on look to be

Breedj and FIFTH AVE
. The former represents last years winning trainer Clive Brittain and will come on for her last run at Lingfield but Fifth Avenue looks to hold the strongest form claims in the race – faring respectably in what has turned out to be a strong Windsor maiden before running away with a Bath contest ten days ago. 2.10 York A red-hot contest that is certain to produce its fair share of winners over the season. Fortuni held classic entries last season before being dealt a set-back and Dangerous Midge has progressed nicely and is worth a try at this longer trip. Cool Strike would have chances if settling better and Thin Red Line represents a yard bang in form and looks well in under a penalty. Nevertheless, at the prices, CRACKENTORP looks the value bet of the race. Although disappointing on his first start for Tim Easterby on his reappearance, faster ground and a true pace could enable him bounce back to form here. 2.40 York KITEWOOD can land the 2010 renewal of the Yorkshire Cup having finally found his feet at Godolphin. Although bombing out on his first two starts after leaving Michael Jarvis he landed two pattern races en route to finishing a close second in the St Leger when signing off for 2009. That ranks as the best form in the race and he can beat of the likely challenges of the improving Manifest and Purple Moon, who disappointed when behind Harbinger at Newbury last month, under a well-judged ride from Frankie.

3.10 York CARIOCA holds a fitness advantage over most of these rivals and having earned herself some blacktype in Italy on her previous start she is fancied to continue her progression with another listed level win here. It is a race where none can be confidently ruled out and several of the big Newmarket yards send runners north. Chachamaidee was just behind the useful Puff at this course in August and should appreciate this extra furlong and Decorative has to be of interest with Michael Jarvis in great form. However, with the benefit of a recent run, Carioca is taken to score. 3.45 York A wide open contest for three year olds with plenty of untapped potential in the field. Dispol Keasha should blaze a trail if previous form is anything to go by and that could set this up nicely for BOSSY KITTY, who won a nursery here back in October and who has had the benefit of two runs to tune up her fitness this term. Dimam Waters took a big class leap in his stride to run Archers Road close at Chester last week and could be in the shake up along with the consistent Tillys Tale who is never far away but usually finds a couple too good. 4.20 York As competitive a sprint as you will ever find but the task is made slightly easier by the withdrawl of the well handicapped pair Tajneed and Cheveton. The classy Brave Prospector acts at this track and drops back from group company but his fitness is a worry so Ingleby Lady and BUACHAILL DONA look the pair to focus on. The former came within a neck of landing the Silver Cup at Ayr last season and is open to more improvement but he is another whose match fitness is taken on trust so Dandy Nicholls Buachaill Dona is the pick. Drawn poorly at Chester last time the run is best ignored but he loves fast ground and can return to winning ways have won at Newcastle on his penultimate start. 4.55 York

The form of Judiciary’s debut second at Newcastle is working out well and he looks like he could make an impact off this mark if his stamina holds out. However, with that not guaranteed and with fitness to prove, Julie Camacho’s BEAT THE RUSH is nominated as the winner. The Tobougg gelding made a mockery of the marks allocated to him by the handicapper with a pair of wins at Pontefract, either side of a pipeopener at Beverley. He has proven stamina over the trip, looks on an upward curve, and looks sure to go well on his favoured ground. Sunny Game and Dancing Dude make their handicap debuts and rank as dangers.
