O'Brien's 'Super Pistachio'

For fans of group races on the Flat.......... You remember that good three year old of Aiden O'Briens from last year, Super Pistachio ? You know - finished 3rd in the French 2000 Gns, 3rd in the Prix Jockey Club. Won the group 2 Champagne stakes and finished 2nd in the Breeders Cup Juvenile as a two year old. Not ring a bell ? Well, of course it doesn't 'cos he used to be 'Westphalia' !........... He's been renamed and the Post have changed all the race results of his career to his new name I reckon thats a poor show............without any note that he used to be 'Westphalia' If you're looking at some form and your horse was close up behind Super Pistachio in a maiden race it's meaningless, you have no idea who Super Pistachio is or was. I reckon the Post should put a note on the horse's form page to record the change of name. Well, actually I think it should be against the Rules to rename a horse. There's got to be a possibility of renaming being used for subterfuge...........:loon It's not an isolated example either - I've been adding some notes to the RP 'My Notes' facility from last years group races and I've come across another one - that good french horse Behestham, who finished 12th in the Arc, is now called 'Carthage'. It shouldn't be allowed !..............:@
