Last Man Standing Saturday Comp ~ Week 1

As i mentioned earlier this will run on Saturdays only and feature the live races on CH4 and BBC. 1. Each comp will last for how many saturdays in a particular month (4 or 5). 2. Pick just one horse to place in any of the featured races. 3. Anyone who finds a placed horse will go through to next week, all losers and NR's will go out, (reserves are allowed). 4. The winner will be the player that gets through all of the weeks in the month, if more than one qualifier, the winner will be decided on how much their placed horses would have returned to a £1EW Acca at SP. 5. EW terms as per usual horse racing rules (no enhanced places etc...) 6. No reasoning needed but welcome if a player chooses to. 7. Week one bets to be posted by the off time, other weeks before the first race starts. 8. We will make the rest up as we go along:ok Week 1 Races RACES SHOWN ON TERRESTRIAL TV

Re: Last Man Standing Comp ~ Week 1 Fintrons entry 3.40 Sandown - Killyglen 7/1 with Hills tonight (3 places, 1/4 odds) - was fancied for the Hennessy but pulled up. Nevertheless, is open to more improvement and this looks an easier assisgnment. I make him well handicapped on his beating of Shining Gale and with Howard Johnson bagging winners I think the horse will run well tomorrow.

Re: Last Man Standing Comp ~ Week 1 Sandown 3.40 Monkerhostin Blue Square 26.00 (1/4 3 places) Last year on the same race he was the top weigher and exluding the faller Gungadu he had a stone more then the next horse. However looked was very competative until 3-4 fences. Obviusly the most awarded horse from the field. Had a win over Kauto, participate in some Gold cups..... But is he really to old? Ok, last season he lost by almost a photo finisher from Niche Market, the future Irish national. And Niche Market had almost 2 stones advantage over Monkerhostin.... The horse had already big odds win in Sandown 2 seasons ago. His lovely going is good/soft (as it will be tomorrow). Will ride for the first time from last few starts with 11/5 weight, thanks to one of the most capable young jockeys. Just remember what did Nathan Sweeney with The Sawyer. His jockey Griffits is amasing, just look at his stats this season - 25% wins in chases with odds like 7.00, 13.00 and 34.00... couple of big priced places as well.... This is maybe the longest post for the horse i am writing..., hope it counts. Hobbs stable is in amazing form, specialy chasers.

Re: Last Man Standing Comp ~ Week 1 Oiseau de nuit Doncaster 3.25 SP Won last time out and only beaten a neck on his previous run by a horse which won again in the week.Trainer had a good winner last weekend and would expect a place at least:hope

Re: Last Man Standing Comp ~ Week 1 Same as Wilf !! 3:25 Doncaster: Oiseau de Nuit Oiseau De Nuit won well at Ffos Las pulling away from Moon over Miami and Lorient Express in good style. While he has gone up nine pounds there looks to be more to come. Colin Tizzard is in good form and his seven pound claimer Giles Hawkins keeps the ride. In his previous run ODN was only beaten a neck by Green Belt Elite who went in again off a ten pound higher mark, albeit in a three runner race. So Oiseau De Nuit's form has a decent look about it.

Re: Last Man Standing Comp ~ Week 1 2.50 Weth Knockara Beau first time this horse has got the distance required to show his true potential,anything above 3m.He has had plenty of experience and has jumped well--hope jockey allows him to bowl along in front and grind his opponents in submission

Re: Last Man Standing Saturday Comp ~ Week 1 15:25 Doncaster Kalahari King is a model of consistency having finished in the first two in his last 8 races and has not failed to make the top 4 in his last 14 races. He has won a grade 1 race off a mark of 157 and placed in Graded company on another 2 occasions off marks of 143 and 159. Drops back into handicap company here today into a class 2 race and should give a good account off top weight. Runs off a mark of 157 which he has won off before as I have already mentioned so he is definately entitled to win this race. Will love the going since 5 of his 11 wins have come on Good To Soft ground. Graham Lee is very familiar with the horse now and can definately win on him again here today. Has not run for 287 days but has won twice on a seasonal reappearance before so I have no objections as to why he can't again. This is a very wide open affair though and many are in with chances.

Re: Last Man Standing Saturday Comp ~ Week 1 14:20 Wetherby Donaldson has run well prior to his comeback run at Kempton in December and should do well tomorrow. Struggled at Kempton after 3 months off, finishing 98l behind and tailing off but beforehand had been jumping well and had come close to gaining consecutive wins, especially when racing at Stratford in August which was a classy performance. Is in a poorer race than a class 2 and can run well.`

Re: Last Man Standing Saturday Comp ~ Week 1 3.10 Sandown Strawberry Did not seem to be right last time out at Ascot when pulled up. Before that had looked in fine shape when winning a 3M chase at Fakenham and following up with success in a 3M mares hurdle at Kempton. Faces stiff task here today racing off a career high mark of 140 but with conditions to suit and Barry G back in the saddle (2/2) could go well.

Re: Last Man Standing Saturday Comp ~ Week 1 15:25 Don - Imsingingtheblues 3rd at Kempton in a grade 2 race LTO which is good form behind Petit Robin, it maybe the horse is in grips of the handicapper but he won this race last year, 7lb higher this year but may not be enough.

Re: Last Man Standing Saturday Comp ~ Week 1 2.55 Argento Luna CV winner, decent form and was running well lto when brought down. Was beaten by Amber Brook time before but didn't get clearest run and also hadn't run for a while. Placed in 7/9 and looks a big price

Re: Last Man Standing Saturday Comp ~ Week 1 14.20 Wetherby - Battlecry Battlecry is at an interesting rating at the moment, and the drop in trip seems to be working, He has ran in some big races in his time, including finishing last years Grand National, so you wouldnt think stamina would be a problem, a good solid jumper and although not as good as in the past, the drop in trip and a rating of 134 plus Paddy Brennan on board, who knows this horse really well. A place is well within reach. :cow

Re: Last Man Standing Saturday Comp ~ Week 1 3.10 Sandown I really liked the way Strawberry was progressing for his new trainer Henderson, but seemed to run as though something amiss last time out and was pulled up, prior to that won a valuable handicap hurdle off a 6lb lower mark Geraghty rides again today and seem to get on well with her, little wary obviously because of that run last time out which the trainer has been unable to explain! Strawberry

Re: Last Man Standing Saturday Comp ~ Week 1 Anak 2.05 Sandown Won well over 2m last time out on soft and I liked the way it drew clear to win by 9 lengths when the closest rival was gaining ground. Fav is unraced over hurdles, could be anything but I'd rather take one with the experience. Excellent pedigree and looks to have a touch of class.
