Re: Australia - A-League 29th-31st Jan History of North Queensland vs Newcastle Overall North Queensland 0 Draw 0 Newcastle 2 North Queensland Goals 2 Newcastle Goals 5 Leading Scorers North Queensland - Dyron Daal 2 Newcastle - Matt Thompson 1, Michael Bridges 1, Jin-Hyong Song 1, Sasho Petrovski 1 At Dairy Farmers Stadium First meeting Recent Form North Queensland LWDLD (5/15) Newcastle LWLWL (6/15) North Queensland Home LWWWD (10/15) Newcastle Away WWLLW (9/15) Season Situation North Queensland - If the Fury win, they keep their very slim chances of finals action alive and will move up to five points behind Newcastle and Wellington with two matches remaining. However, their goal difference is so bad, they would require wins in their finals two games, and either of the Jets or the Phoenix to lose both. A draw or a loss will see their finals hopes finished. Newcastle - A win will see the Jets move to one point clear of Perth in fourth position, and see them have a massive chance of a home final. If they get the three points, it will also confirm their appearance in the finals series. A draw will see them split both the Glory and the Nix in fifth position, whilst a loss will see them remain in 6th position, behind Wellington on goal difference, but they will still have a four point buffer on Brisbane, with North Queensland a further point back. The run in North Queensland - Melbourne (away), Gold Coast (home) Newcastle - Central Coast (away), Adelaide (home) Summary Given this match was originally meant to be played on Saturday night, the delayed start thanks to Cyclone Olga will see a congested run in for both teams as they conclude their seasons - probably not ideal - but for this match at least, both sides will be well refreshed, and given North Queensland's injury list, it probably is a good thing. The recent good form of Jeremy Brockie will be missed by the Fury after he had his leg (and probably his World Cup chances as well), however they do get a certain Robert Fowler back...if he wants to play... Newcastle seem to have a settled line up at the moment and Ben Kennedy will continue in goals as Neil Young still doesn't have a face. Prediction A tough one to predict given North Queensland's fairly consistent home form, if this match was at Energy Australia, I would be backing Newcastle -2.0. However a score draw seems to be a fair result here. The weather forecast is for an afternoon shower, and a top of 33 degrees. This, combined with the humidity (it's 75% there now on Monday night) sees me thinking that the second half will have more goals in it than the first half thanks to tiring defences. The bookies can't split the match as both teams are at $2.60, whilst the Draw is paying $3.20 at Sportingbet. I will put small wagers on both the draw, and for the second half to have more goals than the first at $2.25. Hoggy drummer.gif

Re: Australia - A-League 29th-31st Jan Agree with the draw here :cheers North Queensland - Newcastle draw @ 3.20 centrebet The Fury come off a 1-1 home draw with Brisbane while Newcastle were beaten 3-1 at home to Sydney. While this game was cancelled from the weekend, it has given both teams an extra few days to prepare. North Queensland have the advantage in with regards to the weather as the humidity hits up there while Newcastle has the edge in talent. Expect Newcastle to dominate early on as they need a win to keep their home semi final prospects alive while North Queensland are likely to come back in the second half with their fitness and being used to the humidity giving them the momentum. Like the look of the draw as each side eventually cancels the other out, as Newcastle will probbaly be also eyeing the F3 derby they have with Central Coast coming up on the weekend, and may be satisfied with the draw in the latter stages of the game
