How are horses trained?

Recommended Posts

Just something i've always wondered. What kind of things do trainers do to get the very best out of a horse? What makes other trainers better than others, do some use ancient techniques passed on by generations etc? Are there myths about certain foods improve performance or things like that? Sorry if this has been asked before.

Re: How are horses trained? good question Ram, I'd love to go to a stable tour and see the sort of facilities they have. I can't answer the question myself but I know Keith Reverley and Ferdy Murphy sometimes train their horses on Redcar beach, so there cant be that much stuff that is required if they can do it on the sand from time to time. Am I right in thinking they have swimming pools for them too? I've read some of them have all-weather gallops, think Ian Williams has one?
