Hands for discussion

From now onwards I'll post hands that I would like to discuss here. Villain has been playing 17/6 over 634 hands. PokerStars Game #36578198717: Hold'em No Limit ($0.50/$1.00 USD) - 2009/12/12 17:08:40 CCT [2009/12/12 4:08:40 ET] Table 'Gotho VI' 9-max Seat #3 is the button Seat 1: LuckySOB ($100 in chips) Seat 2: WojtasPolak ($100 in chips) Seat 3: brizic ($117.65 in chips) Seat 4: scanlobj ($112 in chips) Seat 5: o'mightyquin ($66.10 in chips) Seat 6: TwoSmeets ($141.50 in chips) Seat 7: Banjo D ($166.65 in chips) Seat 8: averickz ($103.75 in chips) Seat 9: MoeGreen85 ($58.85 in chips) scanlobj: posts small blind $0.50 o'mightyquin: posts big blind $1 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to averickz :Ac: :Kd: TwoSmeets: folds Banjo D: folds averickz: raises $3 to $4 MoeGreen85: folds LuckySOB: folds WojtasPolak: folds brizic: folds scanlobj: folds o'mightyquin: calls $3 *** FLOP *** :Ah: :Qc: :6c: o'mightyquin: checks averickz: bets $6 o'mightyquin: raises $9 to $15 averickz: calls $9 He smooth called me from the blinds so i mainly put him on QQ, AJ-AK, a flush draw, 66 and maybe AK (if he wasn't bluffing, and my gut told me he wasn't). At this point I have about 47% equity against such a range. *** TURN *** :Ah: :Qc: :6c: :9s: o'mightyquin: bets $18 averickz: calls $18 He bets half the pot here, at this point I feel he either has a flush draw (e.g. :Kc: :Tc:) or or is setting himself up for a river shove with AQ or 66. At this point I have around 40% equity against such a range. Note that my equity drops to 19% if i only put him on QQ, AQ or 66. Did I make a questionable turn call here? *** RIVER *** :Ah: :Qc: :6c: :9s: :8s: o'mightyquin: bets $29.10 and is all-in At this point there is already $71.50 in the pot minus rake, have I come too far to fold? Note that he insta-shoved on the river.

Re: Hands for discussion I dont really feel qualified to talk about the hands - because the level is so far above what I know .... so I'll pose my thoughts as questions instead that maybe you should consider.... Someone playing 17/6 overall - pre-flop, what do you consider a reasonable range to be to defend the BB against a mid position raiser? If you're only playing for about 65x effective stacks, you raise pre flop with AK and hit your A, are you ever really deep enough to get away from the hand? On the turn, would raise or fold be better? If he's drawing, then should you make him pay for the draw? As it is, he's asking you the questions - you're the one making the tough choices.
