I have started a new thread as the other one was getting a bit confusing with members talking about two different comps. After reading and listening to the views it seems we are agreed on most of the points brought forward. The Super nap will end on Dec 31st, the rules are ok, the admin and tables are ok although additions may be made as suggested. The way I see it we have one problem still up for discussion about bet minimums plus another one I mentioned about early prices. 1) The minimum amount of bets is a difficult one and always was going to be as we have many different types of punter on the lounge. We have guys who can log in everyday and 10 bets seems small to them and we have guys who only visit at weekends and when there is evening races so 10 bets to them is a lot, we also have members who dont like to put selections up just for the sake of it. On one hand I think we must increase it, 1 bet in every three days isnt asking too much, dont forget the comp was set up for regular members, on the other hand I dont want to make it so members dont bother entering beacuse they cant win it, to be honest I havnt seen much evidence of this lately, a few punters still post near the end of the month that cant make the 10 bets. The figure that has been suggested is 15 bets, personally I would be happy with any increase so would settle for a compromise of 12 bets, this may not seem much but its 20% more and also would have denied 5 previous winners of the competition. The figure 12 means the people who only can get access at weekends would only have to post once in the week along with the 8 sat/sundays of the month. I know this wont please everyone but just think about other peoples circumstances for a minute. The 100 bets minimum for the overall trophy will remain in place for now. 2) I mentioned the prospect of being able to take an early price, I reckon this would give the competition a more realsitic view of a punters capabilities plus give an added edge. Now if the members want this then we have to follow some guidelines or it wont work. Prices can be checked on Oddschecker and they must have been available at the time of the post in the competition thread. Only stated bookmakers will count, to be decided if we go ahead but cant check the exchanges so they wont be allowed, too much hassle with liquidity anyway etc... If no price or a wrong price is quoted the bets will be settled at SP. Any layers who wish to continue in the BBOTD comp will also be able to quote a price from a bookmaker, I know this is not an exchange price but at least they will be able to quote a price before it drifts. Best odd guaranteed will NOT be used, part of the strategy about taking a price is to know when to or whether to, BOG makes it too easy for punters nowadays and this will also add a bit of skill to the competition. Any views on the above, please have a say, nothing is decided. Once we have sorted it out i'll draw up the new rules. Thanks, BH

Re: BBOTD Comp ~ The Way Forward (2) To be honest I think leaving it at SP is definately a fairer way of doing it just because certain members post up later on and will miss prices etc. Although I guess its up to the individual to get on as early as they can. I guess it can be annoying if you pick a shot that is 20/1 in the morning then goes off at 12/1 but thats the same as the daily horse racing compeition really. You will mark the price you take in your profits anyway so for the sake of the competition I think by doing it at SP could save a lot of bother as it could potentially lead to arguments etc. Maybe it won't but the possibility is there. PS I'm happy either way it goes.
