GaF
The challenge here is to turn £5 into a £1,000 balance on Virgin Poker (plus the free daily Bingo scratchcard) as soon as I can. My account is set to £5 exactly and my VPoints are on zero (I havent played much on Virgin this month, so dont think I'll have any outstanding VPoints to be credited and I havent got any outstanding games I've qualified for. When I have completed this challenge, then I will use the £1,000 won as a bankroll for a shot at cash tables higher than I'm used to, with an aggressive bankroll management strategy. STTs €1+10c always allowed €2+20c needs €44 (£40) €3+30c needs €66 (£60) €5+50c needs €110 (£100) €10+€1 needs €220 (£200) €15+€1.50 needs €330 (£300) €20+€2 needs €440 (£400) Coolers €1+10c always allowed €2+20c needs €22 (£20) €3+30c needs €33 (£30) €5+50c needs €55 (£50) €10+€1 needs €110 (£100) €15+€1.50 needs €165 (£150) €20+€2 needs €220 (£200) MTTs (including SnG MTTs) €1+10c needs €55 (£50) €2+20c needs €110 (£100) €3+30c needs €165 (£150) €5+50c needs €275 (£250) €10+€1c needs €550 (£500) NLHE Cash (always buying in for 100xBB) GBP tables £0.02/£0.04 needs £80 £0.05/£0.10 needs £200 £0.12/£0.25 needs £500 EUR Tables €0.02/€0.04 needs €80 (£72) €0.05/€0.10 needs €200 (£180) €0.12/€0.25 needs €500 (£450) USD Tables $0.02/$0.04 always allowed $0.05/$0.10 needs $200 (£120) $0.12/$0.25 needs $500 (£300) $0.25/$0.50 needs $1000 (£600)
GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£5.25 on Day 1) I've won 25p with my scratchcard for today :ok Off to the micro limit tables on Virgin now - goal isnt so much to build bankroll, but to try and get the raked hands needed to qualify for Thursdays VRoll sat. GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£5.25 on Day 1) Wow - I intended shortstacking for the raked hands - you can actually buy in to the 2c/4c tables for as little as a blind :loon (I think we had this discussion before?) - do they all count for raked hands for VRoll? voiceofjoe
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£5.25 on Day 1) I'll run with this also if you don't mind:unsure - Converted 500 VPoints to Cash - to give a starting Balance of £5 - I'll use a seperate thread to keeptrack
GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£5.16 on Day 1) Of course I dont mind - good luck :ok I have got into Thursdays VRoll - thought I was crushing it - thought I was exploiting it - but made a loss of 9p which surprised me :unsure I was buying in for 10c and usually going all in on the BB, relying on multiple callers and then raisers to create dead money to get my edge. It's actually a really intruiging situation to work out - it's definitely exploitable (though not to the extent that it's worthwhile people doing it under normal circumstances) - even if I havent quite worked out how yet. GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£5.16 on Day 1) I think that the VRolls are critical to (timely) success in this (as is the Bingo scratchcard). So it is essential that I keep enough cash in my account to be able to play the bingo and qualify for the VRolls. I think that the Bingo is ok with just 1p in my account. The VRolls should be ok down to £1 I think :unsure (and I should be able to replenish to £1 quite quickly through the bingo if I lose near a £1 qualifying for a VRoll) - so on the back of that, I think I'm ready to gamble on a couple of €1 STTs.....coolers.... slapdash
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£8.44 on Day 1) Would you like us to set up a separate scratchcard forum, GaF? :tongue2
GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£8.44 on Day 1) Do you think there will be enough traffic for its own forum? :tongue2
GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£8.44 on Day 1) I think I'll gamble again and put USD$4 on one 2c/4c table ..... from what I saw earlier, there must be a huge opportunity to boost bankroll there :hope
GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£8.76 on Day 3) The cash table on Tuesday showed a small (insignificant) profit. I didn't play yesterday. Scratchcard yesterday and today netted 10p each. I'm in the VRoll satellite tonight. Would imagine I'll probably play some other games around it... GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£7.66 on Day 3) Out in 51st. Was going along nicely, but lost a big hand when I moved table and misread the new table. I was dealt cards and the SB and BB were sat directly after me. The Cut-off open limped, I had AQ and so put in a raise - the blinds folded and the paired flop missed me. Then the bombshell dropped. Post flop and I was first to act!! I was sat between the button and the SB :wall :wall :wall :wall :wall I tossed out a cbet, he reraised all in and I folded, letting most of my chips go :sad
GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£7.66 on Day 3) BTW I also lost some money on the €1 Coolers :sad
GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£8.41 on Day 6) Havent played since last post - but have been doing the daily scratchcard - balance currently £8.41. Need to hit the cash tables today to get a VRoll entry. Will microstack (buy in at 10c) the microstakes (2c/4c) again.
GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£7.45 on Day 6) Not good - lost £0.96 - looking like I may be better "playing normally" than following this short stacking strategy. Anyway, I'm in tonights VRoll :ok
GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£7.45 on Day 6) I've had some luck in the VRoll!! :loon Come back from that below (all in pre flop) to chip leader with 71 left :loon

goater14
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£10.76 on Day 6) Don,t forget the 10K freeroll tomorrow GaF if you have enough raked hands (1500 I think), if not worth putting in your diary for next month:ok
GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£10.76 on Day 6) I dont think the micro stakes tables count for that do they? Am playing some €1 DoN at the moment. Also won 50p today on my scratchcard :nana

Beekeeper
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£14.20 on Day 7) I am pretty sure that raked hands at the micro stakes tables will qualify you for the monthly freeroll. If you try to register (and haven't done enough hands yet) it will tell you how many more you need to do. So try it and see if you still need 1500 or whether they have taken into account the hands you have done for the Vrolls.
GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£14.20 on Day 7) You're right :ok I had 78 raked hands - only 1,422 short :tongue2 Now I know they count though - maybe one I can get next month ..... Dodger
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£13.25 on Day 8) Virgin emails... Always check the bottom of the right hand section. This usually carries just adverts...however sometimes has a pub quiz question and the first ten correct responses receive £5 into their account. I've won a couple of these recently and they would certainly help in these types of challenges. Easily missed!

Galronix
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£21.74 on Day 9) There is a PLO hi/lo freeroll at 10.30 every morning and a 5 card draw freeroll at 13.00 every day with 5 raked hands to qualify. :ok Very usefull to brush up on your variants. :ok
GaF
Re: Virgin Poker: £5 to £1000 (£21.74 on Day 9) Cheers Gal :ok To be honest though, I'm not likely to make many at that time of day :loon Do they get many in? I feel a bit of a fraud in this having started on $5 (but not at all for using the scratchcards slap ;) ) and have been able to sidestep the freeroll stage of the challenge - with the exceptions of the VRolls which have decent value in their own right. I havent thought about bankroll management really yet - hasn't been an issue - I just play the smallest tables :tongue2 In looking to move up (using the 5% cash/STT and 2% MTT rules) I need the following approximate bankrolls to buy into higher value games: STTs €1+10c always allowed €2+20c needs €44 (£40) €3+30c needs €66 (£60) €5+50c needs €110 (£100) €10+€1 needs €220 (£200) €15+€1.50 needs €330 (£300) €20+€2 needs €440 (£400) Coolers €1+10c always allowed €2+20c needs €22 (£20) €3+30c needs €33 (£30) €5+50c needs €55 (£50) €10+€1 needs €110 (£100) €15+€1.50 needs €165 (£150) €20+€2 needs €220 (£200) MTTs (including SnG MTTs) €1+10c needs €55 (£50) €2+20c needs €110 (£100) €3+30c needs €165 (£150) €5+50c needs €275 (£250) €10+€1c needs €550 (£500) NLHE Cash (always buying in for 100xBB) GBP tables £0.02/£0.04 needs £80 £0.05/£0.10 needs £200 £0.12/£0.25 needs £500 EUR Tables €0.02/€0.04 needs €80 (£72) €0.05/€0.10 needs €200 (£180) €0.12/€0.25 needs €500 (£450) USD Tables $0.02/$0.04 always allowed $0.05/$0.10 needs $200 (£120) $0.12/$0.25 needs $500 (£300) $0.25/$0.50 needs $1000 (£600) So I cant really think of moving up till I reach £40.
