Medermit for the Arkle?

Having seen his performance today in the Greatwood hurdle, how do you think it will affect his future plans? Before today, King said he may run him in a few hurdles before sending him chasing and also said that he feels the horse is at his best on better ground. I didnt catch the race live today but have watched the replay back and he seemed to have every chance 1f out and wasn't disgraced back in third lumping that big weight around the track. The winner Khyber Kim hails from a yard in tip top shape and the second and fourth held a fitness advantage over him. Considering he is supposed to like quicker ground, that must be seen as a pleasing run from Medermit on his reappearance? Twice he's run at Cheltenham, twice he has run well now, having been an unlucky loser in the Supreme Novices Hurdle in March, when hampered at the last but staying on well up the hill. Does he have the physical attributes/look of a chaser or could he be a talented hurdler that fails to make the transition? At the minute he is a best price 20/1 for the Arkle with the bookies. He was 35.0 after the race, but a few grand appears to have been matched in the meantime. Is now a good time to back him, or is there too much risk at this stage. What price do you think he will be if he wins first time out over fences?

Re: Medermit for the Arkle? Thought it was definately a pleasing performance for his reappearance and he did not disgrace himself. Many horses struggle at Cheltenham and we all know how important course form proves to be. I think if you wanted to back him for the Arkle then now would be the right time as he definately has a win or two in him before the festival and that will only shorten his odds. Can even back him now with a view to laying him nearer the time. Its weird how ante-post betting is something I have yet to see myself do, its the same with football, I never bet on league winners, just don't really like long-term bets. I'm sure its something I will get more into in the future though as a lot of value can be found months before a race.
