Doric Echo - 5.40 Redcar I first saw this run at Pontefract in 2008 when 3rd to a horse called Raedah, which was a 1-5 favourite. The race was not very strong but the 2nd in that race was Magic Cat and that went on to win its next 2 races, including a listed race and won off a rating of 97. Doric Echo won a class 5 handicap 2 races after that Pontefract effort on heavy ground off a rating of 72. It was raised to 81 and has been falling down the handicap ever since. Its best recent effort was a 3rd at Ayr over 1m in a class 4 handicap off a rating of 72, it's career high winning mark. It races today off 69 but today has a claimer on board that takes off a very valuable 7lbs, making the horse now 10lbs below that 72 rating. It has been hit and miss on gd-fm ground but I will give it a chance today at a likely decent price and expect double figure odds.
