Re: Hamilton Sunday 20/9/09 Hope you have a good day out Diamond :ok 2.40 Hamilton

Nine line up to face the starter but it looks as if a line can be crossed through many of these straightaway. Fourtowns Flyer has only seen a racecourse once when finishing mid-field in a Cork maiden and Sea Salt and Pawan seem nothing more than middle grade handicappers. Burnwynd Boy is turned out again quickly after his third in the Bronze Cup at Ayr of Friday but has something to find on the official figures. Garnica is Dandy Nicholls’ second runner and runs here after rejecting the opportunity to contest the Gold Cup yesterday, but he has shown little form in the UK and would have to be backed with a big leap of faith. Eton Rifles is progressing nicely for Howard Johnson but is unlikely to be granted the soft lead he craves and Beckermet is hit and miss these days and is another that is best when allowed to dominante, so is discounted. That leaves just two, but the favourite Major Cadeaux, although the class act in the race as a Group 2 winner last term, may find this trip sharp enough and at the price I cannot justify backing with that doubt, so am on Alan Berry’s City Dancer instead. She is a filly that has failed to fulfil her potential this season but she burst into the UK with great promise when chasing home Spin Cycle and Cheveton at Musselburgh in May and has showed that form to be no fluke with a few other bits of form at listed level. A couple of her recent efforts can be ignored on the basis of a poor draw and she looks to be running off a nice weight here because of the various allowances - off 8-2 she should be competitive under Franny Norton. 11/2 William Hill, EW
