Ascot 2009 Reviews!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys thought it would be nice to get your views on this weeks racing! Where did you watch most of it, what you think of the coverage? I watched it from the comfort of my sofa Tuesda-Friday and then went on Saturday. Unfortunately I only have ATR on my pc so watched the BBC coverage and I have to be honest I dont think they did a bad job ok the fashion gets a bit annoying but they did cover the races fairly well I thought. If you went what did you make of it etc? Well it was my first time this year (thanx to alex for ticket offer) and I thoroughly enjoyed it, the atmosphere is out of this world but in another way i was slightly disappointed. The racing didnt seem the centre peice unfortunately, get dressed up and showing off and acting as if you had loads of money and getting pissed seemed to be centre stage and people gobbing off etc. in my opinion racing needs to be careful not to attract to much more of this, but all in all it is an experience I would tell everyone to enjoy! Best performance of the week (jockey)? Personally gotta give it to R Hills not my fav jockey but he gave Fareer a fantastic ride in Thursday Brittania Stake Best performance of the week (horse)? There were so many for me I cant just name one, obviousbly Yeats was fantastic so great to see, Paco boy proving many of us wrong again brilliant to see and also felt Rainbow view was started to show a little bit of promise again and ran a promising race! Worst bet of the week? Sadly JJ the jet plane really didnt perform upto his potential and was a real shame, also Monsieur Chevalieur was disappointiing losing his unbeaten run! Best bet of the week? So hard because Yeats really did put me back on the right side and also flying cloud for Frankie helped me out but my biggest win came on course on saturday simply cause I staked bigger and had the thrill of seeing it win! Was looking to be a disaster of a day until last 2 races I had Drill sergeant and Carracciola in the last! How did you get on in competitions (Beatvic, ATR etc)? Managed to beat Vic twice for free tenner, my dad managed to beat him 4 times flukey git lol, sadly as normal didnt do any good what so ever in the ATR comp and similar for the very well organised comp on thankyou Stweart and Bowles!! Overall Review All in all it was a brilliant week off from work and I thoroughly enjoyed my day out yesterday, as far as winnings I broke even maybe just a little bit of profit after yesterday. I do defenetily get the feeling racing needs to be careful not to attract to much more of this loutish behaviour and just remember that racng really does stil need to be the main attraction! Thanx Chris

Re: Ascot 2009 Reviews! Where did you watch most of it, what you think of the coverage? All on TV, I haven't been in years but getting talked into the Royal Enclosure for next year, never been in there so want to see if it's as good as I'm told. If you went what did you make of it etc? n/a Best performance of the week (jockey)? No stand out performances for me, Murtagh was at his simplistic best though. Best performance of the week (horse)? Has to be Yeats, a fantastic training performance. Special mentions for Ghanaati and Canford Cliffs. Worst bet of the week? Two of the handicap favs for me, Stone Of Scone and Crackentorp ran shocking races. The former was playing about (kicking out) at the start was took a while to get in the stalls, perhaps something was amiss? The same can be said about Crackentorp, he suffered a bruised foot recently but was apparently fully over it. Well basically he wasn't, no way that horse was 100% yesterday. Best bet of the week? Well Multheeb (10/1 EW in the Buck. Palace) was my "nap" of the week, so pleased that it showed a (small) profit I suppose. That was the E/W bet I gave to the once-a-year punters I knew who were going, so thankfully it held on for 4th place! Actually my first bet of the meeting was the one I'm most pleased with - had the F/C in the Kings Stand (not afterting - see "Pace" thread ;)), didn't get any better after that though. How did you get on in competitions (Beatvic, ATR etc)? n/a Overall Review From my own point of view a disappointing Ascot. The lowest amount of bets I've had in Ascot week and a slight loss shown overall. Wokingham and King Stand aside it was pretty unispiring betting from me - just a host of E/W placers. Happy to get back to bread and butter racing.
