Re: Super League XIV Round 17 & Northern Rail Cup Semi Finals Not sure i am going to be around come Sunday so will post what i like today 4pts St Helens -8 to bt Bradford - Blue Sq @10/11 Bradford have shown that they can compete with the better teams in Super League this season with wins over Leeds and @ St Helens. They have hit a little winning patch with wins over Wakey + Warrington in the last two weeks. That Wire win looks impressive given there recent form. The Bulls welcome back Sam Burgess from international duty and that will no doubt boost the pack. Paul Sykes is a doubt at this stage but i expect he will play. Facing Saints will hold no fear for the Bulls as i earlier mentioned they won at Knowsley rd 34-30 earlier in the year just a week after getting 60 put on them at home by warrington, although St Helens were missing a few players tht night. St Helens are once again the most consitent side in the league and head into this on the back of a 4 game winning run and are unbeaten in 16 (i think) consecutive SL away games which is an amazing record. They will be without Jason Cayless who is one of there most consistent performers and also Jon Wilkin is a doubt to play. Other than these two they will be full strength with the GB boys back in the ranks. Odsal is a stadium saints havent always done well at in the SL era but they did win here last year 22-12 and a similar result would mean the bets a winner. I just think St Helens are much better all over the park and with the Ealrier defeat offering a little more motivation i fancy them to win by 9 or more.

Re: Super League XIV Round 17 & Northern Rail Cup Semi Finals One for me tonight

Catalans (-4) to beat Warrington @ 10/11 (Ladbrokes) 3/5

Catalans come into this game with their French internationals – in true England Football friendly style – “miraculously” recovering from their injuries. Olivier Elima and David Ferriol join the already returning Clint Greenshields, Dimitri Pelo, Jamal Fakir and Jason Ryles in tonight’s game while Greg Bird misses out awaiting sentencing in Australia for assault. Last time out they earned a well-deserved 32-30 win at home to Leeds and have been ahead of the handicapper in their last 3 games. They haven’t cleared a 4pt line at home much this season (only 2 in 7) but they have already faced Huddersfield, Saints and Leeds there this season while tonight’s game will actually take place in the Catalan capital of Barcelona.

Warrington arrive in Barcelona having suffered a 21-10 home defeat to Bradford last time out but have their own returning internationals in the shape of Adrian Morley and Ben Westwood. Lee Briers joins Micky Higham on the injury list and ChrisBridge is expected to join Michael Monaghan in the halves. Losing two of their more experienced players, I can see Warrington struggling to organise as cohesive as a performance as they may usually have tonight. They’ve been ahead of the handicapper in their last few away games, but the likes of Bradford, Castleford and Hull – IMO – haven’t been in the form that Catalans have and I fancy the French side to edge tonight’s game.

4pts St Helens -8 to bt Bradford - Blue Sq @10/11
Also, agree with you on Saints COUH. Just feel Bradford need to show a bit more before I can trust them to keep within 8 points of Saints. There’s every chance they can do it, but I’d prefer a touch more form in the bag before resting my money on them.

St Helens (-8) to beat Bradford @ 10/11 (Coral) 3/5

Re: Super League XIV Round 17 & Northern Rail Cup Semi Finals Two for me tonight. 3pts Hull KR (-8) to beat Celtic Crusaders 4/5 Bet365 Hull KR got dismantled by Harlequins last week but a lot of their side were on international duty but now they are back I think they'll get back to winning ways after a few indifferent weeks. It won't be easy however because Celtic are coming into this one off the back of the biggest win in their history, beating Wigan last week. However consistency hasn't been the Welsh sides strongest point and they've suffered a few batterings already this season. It's not easy to score against this KR outfit and if Dobson plays a good game then I can see Hull KR running out comfortable winners of this one. 1pt L.McCarthy-Scarsbrook to score anytime 3/1 Stan James Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook is a very talented forward who most at Quins have high hopes for. Quins are a totally different animal when he is in their ranks and it shows with the big guy having scored in each of Harlequins last 3 matches. One of those tries came against St Helens so it's not just sides like Celtic that he goes over against. With Purdham out tonight McCarthy-Scarsbrook should see a fair amount of the ball and with him in the try scoring form that he's in I'll have a small bet that he'll go over again, at a decent price.

Re: Super League XIV Round 17 & Northern Rail Cup Semi Finals Trip cancelled so got a couple of bets for some interest tonight. Not sure we are allowed to put up Doubles and so on so my apologies if not. 3pts Leeds + Hull KR Double @10/11 Stan James I dont like opposing the Quins cos i think the bookies and most fans underestimate them greatly, however tonight they are missing the main man in Rob Purdham. He shows everything that is good about this team. Leeds are at Full strength other than Ian Kirke who misses out. If Leeds hit form tonight i see no reason why they should not win , they have the GB players returning and confidence will be high after last weeks win over Hudds. My one concern with Leeds is they keep throwing in a poor performance this season and for that reason i cant take them on the H/C and will just play the match odds. Quins won well at Leeds earlier this year (4-21) and Leeds will not underestimate them this time. Celtic come into this game on the back of there best ever result over Wigan last time out and although that was a good result for them im not reading too much into that as Wigan are very inconsistent. Another factor why i am opposing the Crusaders is they have struggled to put back to back performances in this year. Rovers appear to of hit the wall of late and are not in good form but they have been good to punters so far this season and if they get an early lead i think they could win this well. The one team you probably want to play to get out of a rut is the Celts and hopefully we see the Welsh sides lack of defence tonight. Peter Fox returns tonight to boost Rovers attacking threat.
