3.00 Nottingham Love Pegasus has been in good form recently, landing back to back races at Kempton over this trip of a mile on his last two runs. The first of those came in a maiden, then the second was on his handicap debut off a mark of 80, as he was ridden out comfortably to win by three lengths. He is turned out under a 6 lb penalty here and could go well for Mark Johnston as he is official well in at the weights. Fireside looks the danger on his first start for Richard Fahey, as he chased home the impressive Infiraad last time out at Newmarket, and the step up in trip is likely to suit. Re: Nottingham 11/6/09 4.45 Nottingham I think the ground may have been the undoing of Miss Cristophene at Leicester last month but Sue Lamyman's progressive filly deserves another chance this afternoon with this slower surface expected to be right up her street. She has demonstrated a high level of consistency on the fibresand at Southwell since the turn of the year and that should stand her in good stead on the forecast Good, Good to Soft ground here. She won a maiden at the third time of asking and kept on well to win under Jimmy Quinn. The second has won since going handicapping and came close off 70 at Wolverhampton in April, so the fact Miss Cristophene is rating 72 here means she could have a chance. She was initially allocated a rating of 65 by the handicapper but made a mockey of that mark in February, winning by four and a half lengths from the inform Hawkspring and Diamond Suprise, and on the evidence of that win, a mark of 72 here may not halt her progression. She ran too badly to be true when upped to a mile and a quarter last time, but she had previously shaped as if she'd get this far, and I'm hoping her last run can be excused due to a combination of the ground and a little absence - her last run came after a break of 89 days, today she's a little sharper, having appeared 16 days ago. 0.5 pt @ 65.0 Betfair.
