2.20 Newmarket I like the look of Viva Vettori for this. The Elsworth yard is 4-19 in the past fornight, and the horse is lightly raced after only nine starts. He won a Kempton handicap off 84 last May and is 5 lb higher on 89 now, but another win may be within his grasp. He ran in a £31k class 2 course handicap last time out when finding only the useful Confront too good and now drops in grade to class 3 company with a 95 ceiling. He shaped as if this drop back in trip would suit and Gd/Frm ground evidently will not inconvenience. 11/2 Bet 365, 0.5 pt EW (1/4 odds, 3 places). 3.30 Newmarket Night Crescendo was outstanding at Ascot on the 11th October last year. He looked short of room on the rail but when a gap appeared Jim Crowley steered him to victory to record a quick fire double when the win did not look possible. Both of those wins came in class 2 handicaps and he is only 2 lbs higher than the latest of them now. He encountered traffic trouble last time out but kept on and although he has never won beyond a mile and a quarter he has often hinted he may get a mile and a half. He will come on for that last run and should give another good account in another class 2 handicap here. 8/1 Bet 365, 0.5 pt EW (1/4 odds, 3 places).

NEWMARKET ~ Saturday 16th May ACE OF HEARTS 2.20 Newmarket. 0.5 points each way. A consistent type, who, to be honest, deserves to have won more races than he has. Gets in here off a mark of 95, and although he probably deserves to be dropped another pound r two, it's still a mark that entitles him to go close in context with this race today. The trip and ground wouldn't be a concern, and the promising Jack Mitchell takes 3lb off his back, so all in all I think if he runs his races, which he usually does, he should be able to go close here at decent odds.
