Re: Pontefract 29th April This card doesn't look as good as some of the recent ones here but I like Latin Tinge in the fillies handicap (4.05) and am prepared to give her another chance. She made her handicap debut at Lingfield at the weekend and prior to that run had shown promise in her runs last year. She was a nose second in a Newbury maiden on her debut as the front two pulled well clear of the field and that performance must have pleased trainer Paul Cole, who entered her in the Group 2 May Hill stakes at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Doncaster for her second start. That was a race won by Rainbow View and the second Snoqualmie Girl is a listed level winner whilst the third, Lahaleeb, won a Group 3 at Newbury recently and is another promising filly. Latin Tinge finished at the back of the field, but seems to have been rather up against it mixing it with fillies of pattern class. Even the fourth, for example, was only beaten by a length by Fantasia at Goodwood on her previous start. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

A drop in class thereafter saw Latin Tinge hack up in a Kempton maiden in September on polytrack over a mile. She was then seen in a conditions race at Newmarket in November, and although she finished back in fourth, that form is worthless considering the race was run at a time 10.8 seconds below standard which would not have suited this filly who likes to be held up. She began handicapping off a mark of 84 at Lingfield and although disappointed, was smashed in the betting ring from 8/1 into 5/2 favouritism to suggest she had been working well at home perhaps. The step up in trip may suit and although she never looked the winner last time she may have needed the run so I'll give her another go tomorrow. She was forced wideest of all turning for home and was then switched onto the inside by Moore. When it became obvious she wasn't gonna win he eased her down, and she is better than the margin of defeat shows. She is due to drop 2 lbs in the future but I think if she bounces back to form that future weight drop is negligable. 8/1 Bet 365, EW.
