kevshat
Televised National League rugby is back this week with Widnes vs Toulouse the TV game. Only bet365 have it priced up at the minute as the bookies seem to be slow on the uptake so far. Widnes-16 1.9Toulouse+16 1.9Handicap Tie17 Other odds will go in the thread as and when they come out. Looks like a weekend with some good betting potential :hope
Karel
Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 6 & Co-operative Championships Round 1 Agree Kev with it being a very good weekend, I have had two in mind all week and have just seen the handicaps which I am very happy with. I will post them up as soon as I get my bets on.
Greenhoff
Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 6 & Co-operative Championships Round 1 Chemic -14, still available with boyles. The French played most of the 2nd half at Sheffield with 12 men. Not surprisingly the Eagles made it count with 26 unanswered pts. Still integrating 3 or 4 Aussies into their system, they've mainly French players. Another physical encounter tonight, with the full-timers having too much of everything, in what'll be splendid conditions.

This game really pisses me off that they are exempt from relegation for 3 years, porbably get all their travel expenses paid for by the rfl and play under different rules regarding quotas :wall

This game really pisses me off that they are exempt from relegation for 3 years, porbably get all their travel expenses paid for by the rfl and play under different rules regarding quotas :wall Don't blame you for feeling like that but they are trying, despite the scoreline. Compared to english clubs they really are facing a very uphill struggle. Most of the team are little more than amateurs. This was more or less their 1st "high level" game. Unlike the British teams they only got one or two friendlies pre season, against very poor opposition (I won't mention the teams, you've prob. never heard of them). Its a pretty low profile sport in France but their fan base is growing & they will def. improve along the year. Call them a joke now but they have got a good structure and are putting together a solid training staff. By the end of their 3 years they will (thats the goal) be mid table. Considering where they are starting from & the competion for sponser's in France that will be a pretty good result. I don't doubt that their are as many "homebased" clubs deserving of the slot but if XIII wishes to expand it has to go European.
Karel
Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 6 & Co-operative Championships Round 1 I feel they would not have got battered by so much but for two things, revenge and playing in front of the new coach, but I am getting tired of this one rule for one and one rule for another. Grim Reaper
Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 6 & Co-operative Championships Round 1 Anyone know the team news for Wakey? Cannot for the life of me find out if Brad Drew is back after getting tonked in the 1st minute last week. Got on the Hull KR -10.5 with b w in .com earlier in the week. That's bet of the week for me. Rovers been playing well and covered 3 spreads out of 4 (splitting the other one - with Leeds) Celtic obviously kept things tight last week but Saints not firing on all cylinders yet PLUS it was a quagmire. The 0-4 result last week was impressive from a Celtic standpoint but also misleading. Rovers to win comfortably.

I don't doubt that their are as many "homebased" clubs deserving of the slot but if XIII wishes to expand it has to go European. I agree about the lack of a "pre season" as the Northern Rail is a good warm up as well as friendlies but I can't agree about them just being above amateur status. The domestic game in France overall is probably at a similar standard to the Championship/ Championship One standard. Look at players like Gresuque and Zitter to name two who played in both competitions. Toulouse have players in their ranks who have been at Catalans and of course the odd Australian. At least Celtic started in NL2 as it was then, Toulouse being exempt from relegation is a disgrace. If they finish in the bottom two this year it means the team finish 9th is relegated instead. It won't matter if Toulouse are aiming for mid table after 3 years or whatever, they are being lined up for a franchise so it doesn't really matter either way! Greenhoff
Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 6 & Co-operative Championships Round 1 Salfords left side ripped to shreds v quins last week. Melling on the wing with 3 walk-ins. Reds' problem was playing a 5'6 half back on the left wing. Bomber McRae playing it again tonight. Gardner a shoo tonight but 4/7 not for me. taking his partner gidley @ 2.00 Gardner and Flannery ist try @ 9/1 and 25/1 respectively. Punto83
Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 6 & Co-operative Championships Round 1 Unfortunately for Salford McRae is on a massive contract and they can't get rid of him. Simms seems to specialise in getting second rate aussies in but still keeps his job! Gardner and Flannery getting tries but not the first... hardlines Greenhoff. Good call. Good performance by Leeds tonight aswell. Quite tempted with Barrow tomorrow. Will do some digging and post more
Karel
Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 6 & Co-operative Championships Round 1 Quite tempted with Barrow tomorrow. Will do some digging and post more Ditto My main bet for this week and my first big bet of the year is Hull at 6/5 at Bradford tomorrow. I have watched this team more times than any other in the super league with it being close to me and I have not been impressed for a couple of years now and seen the team decline rapidly. They were very poor at home against Hull kr when they had a massive penalty count in their favour to draw a game they should have lost, then they lost to my home team Huddersfield and it was an awful game, then we all know what happened against Wigan. Bradford are a poor side and lost more players to injury last week. They have very little going forward and no one to create anything. I am very confident a good solid Hull side will beat them and at even money I am piling in. Selection Hull to beat Bradford 6/
Punto83
Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 6 & Co-operative Championships Round 1 The -12 on Barrow has been gobbled up, still fancy them to cover -14/16 but leaving it alone now. Thought it was on a Sunday though. Didn't realise the game was being played yesterday:\ 2 bets for me Today. Fev is my main bet. Batley get about 6/8 start depending on which bookie you look at. They hammered Workington last week when I expected a close game. My mate was playing in that game for Town and he said Fev were just too quick and big. Iestyn Harris though calls all the shots and gets them organised. Yhey have 2/3 big trundling forwards who run onto the ball at pace and make good yards. I reckon they should easily see off Batley. I'm going to have a double on with Whitehaven to beat Gateshead (+12) Both side played last week with Thunder winning 42-38. Whitehaven at 1 stage where 20-6 up but gave away far too many pens as their discipline went out of the window. I'm sure Ged Stokes will have put them through their paces in training all week. Many Whitehaven fans aren't too happy so a big performance is vital and I think they will get it. :ok
kevshat
Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 6 & Co-operative Championships Round 1 I'm with Karel. I think Hull represent a solid bet this afternoon. 4pts Hull to beat Bradford 11/10 Blue Square Hull have been very much underestimated this season but credit to Richard Agar who has got his side fit and firing. They look good in attack but more importantly there's some steel in defence and in Thorman and Horne they've got the half back combination to unlock the door in this one. Bradford haven't really got going this term yet and they're not being helped in the injury department. David Solomona remains a huge miss to them and Wayne Godwin being injured means Terry Newton will have to step up to the plate. Bradford have got it in them to be dangerous but Hull are buzzing at the minute and on the evidence of the season so far I think they are a good bet today. Punto83
Re: Rugby League: Super League XIV Round 6 & Co-operative Championships Round 1 Well done Steve. Fev played really well yesterday but Batley were terrible. They might be a team to oppose until we see a change in coach. Fev vs Whitehaven this coming weekend should be interesting ;)
