Re: Best bet of the day 24/1/09 3.10 Cheltenham Simarian - This horse is carrying my ante-post money for the Triumph hurdle at 22.0 and 38.0 but seems to have been written off judging by his walk in the market over the past couple of weeks. He was a very impressive winner here in November when trouncing the field by 7 lengths and staying home strongly up the hill to fend off Reve de Sivola and Nampour amongst others, but following a 4th placed effort at Chepstow last time out when behind Walkon, his price drifted. The appeal about this horse for the festival is his decent course form; he's 2-2 over 17f and I think he has already been written off for tomorrow judging by his 10/1 price tag, with Reve de Sivola a mere 3's. There was a story with Evan Williams on the RP site earlier in the week and he remained upbeat about his horses chances at the festival, suggesting that an early blunder last time did not help his chances, and I think he could bounce back into the reckoning with a solid display tomorrow. None of the others have won at the track and although some have place form to their name they are also much shorter in the betting. Simarian is weighted to confirm superiority over the aforementioned pair and with Donal Fahy 3 from 4 on him I'll have a go in the hope he can upset the fav, who is probably underpriced because of his trainer's reputation. 1 pt win
