Re: Tomahawk's Poker Challenge: $50 to a house! (Bankroll currently $150.61) Played 4 more games at $2.50 and was going to play a few at $5 but didn't in the end. Played a little bit of cash just 1 table of $0.05/1 and got up to $17 but left after a big pot left me $2.09 down.

Re: Tomahawk's Poker Challenge: $50 to a house! (Bankroll currently $150.61)

Nice going so far hawky.
Cheers mate. Slow going but I reckon I'll have a big enough bankroll to move up to $5 by the end of Feb. Aim is 50 buyins so thats $275 and I'd drop back down at 30 buyins or $165.
Are you from Lystrup? If so' date=' we're currently at the same table (and you're going well :ok)[/quote'] Thats not me :D. Was it during one of your Poker King games? All I'm playing are the $2.50 6 man games at Pacific.

Re: Tomahawk's Poker Challenge: $50 to a house! (Bankroll currently $150.61) 9 games today and a nice bit of form. One of the times I finished out of the money my flopped set lost to a higher flopped set so I was always going bust.

Takes my profit for the $2.50 games to over $100. $2.50 Profit: $100.60 ROI: 14.5% ITM: 64.9% Overall Bankroll: $159.91 Cash: ($0.69) SNG: $110.60 Profit: $109.91 ROI: 15.7% ITM: 65.2% Bonus: 59% Goal: 0.011% Really need to start hitting the course work so I think 8-10 games per day will be the most I will play unless I am up really late when the games are easier.

Re: Tomahawk's Poker Challenge: $50 to a house! (Bankroll currently $167.51) Played 8 games this evening. With approximately another 245 games needed at $2.50 I've pretty much given up on clearing my bonus before the 25th. I have an exam the following day and just can't afford the time. I currently have 30 buy ins for $5, and would need a more achievable 147 games to clear the bonus so maybe I will have to bite the bullet and move up quicker. I'm certainly not worried about the standard, but moving up has always been a problem for me. I tend to lose, tilt and then piss all my money away playing $2/4 so this time around bankroll management is very important and in the grand scheme of things is $37.50 really that important? Anyway, here are todays games. Cashed in 6 from 8. First 4 games I ran beautifully, called a pretty large raise (about $100 at the $10/20 level) with 44 and the flop came 484, opponent fires, I reraise, he goes all in and flips 88 :eek then shouted at me in Spanish.

One thing I really want to improve on is my heads up play. I make the top 2 43% of the time and I win about 49% of them. I really believe I should be winning at least 55% of these situations. It's really hard to back a claim like this up because I have no poker tracker style stats and Pacifics histories, although pretty, are not in the friendliest format to analyse.

Re: Tomahawk's Poker Challenge: $50 to a house! (Bankroll currently $183.01) Play 13 games of $5 today. Played my ass off and cashed in 11 of them but just couldn't bag a win. In my last game there were 3 left with the blinds at 200/400, I had a9 and lost to a6 after the short stack shoved pre flop, leaving me with about 2200. Next hand I lost AK against K6 all in preflop. I think the big thing that turned what could have been a fairly big losing session into a small winning session was picking the right spot to go all in and pick up the blinds.

Re: Tomahawk's Poker Challenge: $50 to a house! (Bankroll currently $183.01) Played 25 games of $2.50 on Wednesday and it didn't go brilliantly and incurred a small loss. I don't think I ran very well and remember losing to some rediculous beats (although I'm sure a couple of days after a losing session all you would remember are the beats) but I certainly threw away 2 games from strong positions. I am starting to think that $5 is a lot tighter than $2.5 with it not unusual for 5 players to be left when the blinds are 100/200. Played a bit of cash as well which went better.

Re: Tomahawk's Poker Challenge: $50 to a house! (Bankroll currently $213.50) Very annoyed with myself. Played 8 games of $5 and cashed in 4 but suffer 2 really bad beat, KK vs some suited rubbish all in pre flop and lost to a flush and AA vs AJ all in preflop to see the villian hit a J high straight. This last one in particular tilted me so I took my bankroll and sat at a $1/2 table fully expecting to lose it all. Won a couple of $30 pots and then came to my senses and left.

Re: Tomahawk's Poker Challenge: $50 to a house! (Bankroll currently $227.50) For a change of pace and inspired by all the success Staffy and AJ, plus others, are having I played 12 $5 cooler games and really enjoyed them. There were some interesting situations where I was folding big hands in late position because of other peoples stacks in relation to the blinds. I cashed in 8 and should have cashed in 1 more but threw a game away by misreading my hand. I will these for a while and see how they do.

Re: Tomahawk's Poker Challenge: $50 to a house! (Bankroll currently $227.50) Tonight was a horrible session. One of those where if just one or two hands go your way you will have a decent profit rather than a loss. Made some horrible calls and had some horrible beats. The games are a lot looser than I expected and there are some really bad calls with hands like A4 and KT. If someone is a big stack they seem to think they need to bully the table and raise all in preflop in the majority of hands.

If someone is a big stack they seem to think they need to bully the table and raise all in preflop in the majority of hands.
With coolers, I'd argue that's the right play if the others are good enough to know when they should fold (which they're not!!) - if you're on the bubble, with one short stack, 4 mid stacks and a big stack, with the short stack to act before the big stack - the big stack should be able to go all in every hand that the short stack is not involved in and the mid stacks should fold every hand - no-one even need look at their cards...... the big stack should be able to shove 23o and the mid stacks should fold AA. I'm often guilty of overestimating my opponents ability to fold hands that they should :sad (which is to the detriment of both me and the player that calls me)

I was just going to post something similar to this (I think you are rubbing off on me and I'm starting to argue with myself). But at the level I am playing no one is good enough to lay down a big hand pre flop if they are safely in the money positions. I now think being aggressive as the big stack is good, what annoys me now are the "hero" calls they make with QJ.

Never heard that quote before but it certainly holds true. I have found that playing really tight on the bubble when I could be considered a short stack and letting other people make mistakes is the way forward. Players don't seem to know how to play in this situation and so I can only profit from their bad play.

Re: Tomahawk's Poker Challenge: $50 to a house! (Bankroll currently $263) Played another 6 today and cashed in all 6. One (really?) interesting hand - Blinds 100/200. On the bubble, UTG and UTG+1 are big stacks, cutoff has about 900, I'm on the bubble with about 1100, SB and BB are both short, 400-600. I'm dealt JJ, lovely. UTG and UTG+1 fold. Cutt off who is very tight goes all in, I fold almost instantly (surprised by how quick I folded). Both the SB and BB folded but one of them went out in the next round.

Re: Tomahawk's Poker Challenge: $50 to a house! (Bankroll currently $263) Currently playing a few coolers and some of the play has been shocking if only Pacific's hand histories were better. Two big stacks going all in preflop with JJ and A7 on the bubble with the short stack < 5BB. Some idiot raising 3xBB with A4 then calling my all in 8BB with KK and hitting trips, then all his brazilian mates telling how well he played it :@:wall:@ I know I want idiots like this at my table so \rant

Re: Tomahawk's Poker Challenge: $50 to a house! (Bankroll currently $263) Played 4 coolers and won 3. Stopped playing cause I have a bit of a headache and I have a deadline tomorrow. Played really well, made a couple of good folds, best was: 8 still in, blinds 75/150 I'm in MP with about 1200. Dealt JJ. Tight UTG (winning player over 1000 games) calls, another rock UTG+1 raises to 450. I fold and turns out they have AA vs KK. I think my bubble play is strong at the moment, there are so many mistakes I am happy to just sit there and let the one of the other 5 blow up. That game where my KK was beat ended a winning run of 11 straight wins.

$5 Coolers Profit: $57.50 ROI: 19% ITM: 65.5% Overall Bankroll: $271 Cash: $40.30 SNG: $180.70 Profit: $221 ROI: 13.7% ITM: 65.5% Bonus: 94% Goal: 0.018% I'm going to move away from Pacific at the end on January to one of the Boss sites. I reckon on a 30% rakeback deal I would have earn't about $40 since I started playing but Pacific's FPP have only earnt me $3.56. The tournament fees are the same on both networks so hopefully it is profitable move.

Re: Tomahawk's Poker Challenge: $50 to a house! (Bankroll currently $271) Lo m8 keep it going doing well :clap One word of warning regarding boss - not a warning as such - the volume of players dramatically reduces through the night and stts can take a while to fill up. Just so your aware thats all :ok

Thanks mate. I didn't think about traffic, I assumed that because its a pretty big network it wouldn't be a problem. On Pacific its not unusual for a tournament to take 3-5 minutes to fill (talking about the 6 man games). Would it be longer than that?

From morning to midnight id say your ok after midnight it begins to tail off :ok
Sorry - I didn't notice the times you were playing - MD is spot on... Ideally I think you want to be on a site with US players as you're playing a lot during their prime time.....
At the moment I'm on exam leave so my sleeping pattern isn't what it usually is. Once I get back into lectures I won't be playing as late so I think I'll be ok. Thanks guys, traffic didn't even cross my mind.

Re: Tomahawk's Poker Challenge: $50 to a house! (Bankroll currently $271) Play 5 coolers, cashed in 3. Ran 88 into QQ shortstacked. He was a big stack and limped so maybe I should have folded. I'll put the hand up after this and see what anyone thinks.
