Cooler Hand History - Talk Me Through!

Hi all, am determined to get to grips with these bloody games - unsure about a couple of decisions I made here, so I'm going to post up the key hands until people lose interest or I start forgetting... first six are standard folds, what should I do here? (10 seater $5.20 turbo game, top 5 get $10 each) 1: 5th position, fold QTo 2: 4th position, fold K4o to a min raise from 2nd. 3: 3rd position, fold J4s 4: 2nd position, fold K3s 5: UTG, fold 97o 6: BB, fold Q5 post-flop to a bet of 90 into a 135 pot. 7: SB, hand below: *********** # 7 ************** PokerStars Game #21618155501: Tournament #117370617, $5.00+$0.20 Hold'em No Limit - Level II (15/30) - 2008/10/30 12:21:00 ET Table '117370617 1' 10-max Seat #7 is the button Seat 1: alanrossoni (1260 in chips) Seat 2: antoinebalbo (1290 in chips) Seat 3: dutch-n00b (1510 in chips) Seat 4: fee6 (1570 in chips) Seat 5: GLabine (1470 in chips) Seat 6: yarib (1460 in chips) Seat 7: Elden1982 (1450 in chips) Seat 8: JadedJ (1470 in chips) Seat 9: okanagan_bc (1970 in chips) Seat 10: 1-NuffSed-1 (1550 in chips) JadedJ: posts small blind 15 okanagan_bc: posts big blind 30 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to JadedJ [Kc Ah] 1-NuffSed-1: folds alanrossoni: folds antoinebalbo: folds dutch-n00b: raises 60 to 90 fee6: folds GLabine: folds yarib: folds Elden1982: folds

Re: Cooler Hand History - Talk Me Through! For similar reasons to those posted in the other thread, I think I fold AKo here :unsure You're out of position, someone has shown strength, the pot is small. I'm definitely not reraising, and calling worries me as it's tough to get away from (yet easy to be pushed off with a worse hand) if you hit top pair top kicker - you just wont have, post flop, a hand often enough that you can feel confident enough about to push hard enough to get paid off....

Re: Cooler Hand History - Talk Me Through! Sidetrack away from the hand history - are coolers the game for you JJ? Above all, they require patience and discipline, and without meaning to sound too rude :$ they're not what I consider your primary qualities on the poker table.

FOLD - yes I know this sounds silly but you are OOP with one more person to act PF and withouting hitting the nuts you have no idea how strong your hand is on the flop. Damo

Re: Cooler Hand History - Talk Me Through!

Should I try to steal the big blind' date=' limp, or throw the hand away?[/quote'] I would raise here - you have folded hand after hand and if the BB has paid any amount of interest he will see that - make it 300-350 to go. Damo

Re: Cooler Hand History - Talk Me Through! Without commenting on this current hand yet...notice they have ante on here...so the ultra tight approach is risky as your stack will dwindle much faster as the blinds increase. So by the time the BB is 400 the ante is going to force players into moves they may not make without antes. In general with these games I'm all-in pre-flop or fold. Trying to play poker will just get you into deep trouble...hence your predicament in this hand. I think I'd be all-in after his check...trapping checks don't seem to happen much in cooler games and I suspect you would get the fold you need.

reboot your computer and start again? :eyes (;)) Just check and fold the river when he bets. This seems to be a very poorly played hand JJ, though it makes good reading on not what to do so thanks for posting as hopefully it generates discussion on a better strategy for playing this type of hand in this situation :ok Damo

Re: Cooler Hand History - Talk Me Through! A bit of absolutely amateurish hand analysis: Initial raise implies a good Ace or medium/low pair...would have expected a big push with a higher pair. The check when the Ace shows, then only a small bet on the river rules out an Ace. :unsure So guessing he has a smallish pair. 2 to 9 55 would be cruel...but you beat all but 55 and 99, guess it's worth a look. :unsure ps. this is why I do not usually comment on hand histories...it's all sort of out of context and you cannot really appreciate the exact situation as it was originally played out.
