Great Leighs 12/10/08

4.10 Mille Feuille makes her handicap bow off 71 today and I think has a great chance off that mark. Ralph Beckett's filly has shown promise on all five of her starts in maidens and finally broke her duck LTO on the polytrack at Kempton. On her debut last September she was 3rd at Goodwood and a couple of lengths off the winner, The Jostler, who has been running with credit and won a handicap off 82 in August. She was sent off co-favourite on her reappearance at Warwick and finished in 3rd, 3/4 of a length behind Storm Sir, who has gone on since and picked up a handicap off 80 recently. The winner was well infront of the chasing pair and even though he hasn't won since he has been running well enough off marks in the 80's. At Salisbury she was only a neck off the winner, Provence. The 5th, Ethaara boosted the form by picking up a maiden NTO and then winning on her handicap debut off 77. The form of her Kempton second was boosted when the 3rd, Spate River, won two of his next three handicap starts, off 72 and 76 and she lost her maiden tag on her last run at Kempton when, under the ride of Ryan Moore, she ran out a comfortable winner over this trip. The main negative against her here is the wide draw but she looks to be on a cracking mark so I'll take the chance. 5/1 VC Bet.
