Re: Snooker - 2008 Shanghai Masters The top half of the draw looks much weaker than the top with the likes of O'Sullivan, Perry, Carter, Williams, Higgins, Allen, Day and Maguire all in the bottom half. So two top half of the draw selections are: Walden 125/1 lad 1pt e.w and 12/1 to win his quarter boy 3 pts A bit of a longshot here but I do think that this quarter is weak and vulnerable to an outsider doing well. Ding is obviously the main man here but he is not always the most reliable and Robertson seemingly is not in the form of a couple of seasons ago. Hendry is also in ther but he is another seeded player who could be vulnerable. Walden has had some decent results in qualification for this, the grand prix for which he has progressed to the tv stages and even at the north ire. event where he ran into eventual finalist Harold at an early stage. So he is a player in some sort of form and it wouldnt surprise me to see him shock a few of the more fancied names in this event. Selby 7/1 var 5 pts e.w Selby is in quarter 2 where it looks as though the main threat would come from Murphy and one could say that there is a decent bit of value in Murphy who is double the price of Selby. However of the two at this stage of the season, it is Selby who looks to be the sharper. He didnt do much in the north ire. event but so far in the PL he has impressed and adapted very well to the shot clock rule and looks a player who is ready to build on his great season last year. Murphy on the other hand hasnt had that match practice. Others in this quarter who could surprsie could be the talented youngster Trump, potentially an early opponent for Selby. However if those two meet I would have to fancy the more experienced Selby and overall this looks a kindish draw for Selby to go quite a far way into this event if not win it.
