These guys are ranked 130 (Soeda) and 134 (Delic) which show this should be pretty close. Add to that Soeda playing at home, took Gonzlaez to 3 sets last week and Delic hasn’t played since the US Open and Soeda looks very solid as a small dog. Delic has had more exposure to tennis audiences playing the US hard court circuit, but I don’t think that means much in Toyko!

NAKAMURA @ 2.75 Stan James. Domachowska served a massive 25 double faults against Amanmuradova last week and after that I wouldn’t fancy her as a fav here. Nakamura hasn’t won a match since losing to Mel South in Birmingham but she’s had some tough draws. She’s lost to Dechy (on grass), Zvonareva, Paszek, Kvitova, Wozniak, Bammer, Petrova and Radwanska and she’d be expected to lose most of those. This looks like a good opportunity for her to get a much needed win in her home event. She reached the final here in 2006 and despite a 1st round loss last year I think she’ll do the business here.
