Re: Newmarket ~ Friday 19/09/08 3.05 Newmarket 14 runners go to post for this class 3 nursery handicap over 7 furlongs. I'm sure Richard Hannon doesn't have many horses rated as low as 70, but that is the mark off which Brooksby makes her handicap debut today. This daughter of Diktat has not yet raced over the 7 furlongs they tackle today, but should get the trip on breeding and she has shown promise in a couple of maidens over shorter. She made her debut at Newbury and was well beaten and at the back of the field, however, like any newcomer, she may have needed the run and she looks to have improved since. She finished 3rd of 12 on her second career start at Windsor and although she was never going to catch the winner (who looked useful and won a listed race next time out) she was only 2 lengths off the second, Kingswinford, who won a handicap off 73 recently. The 4th, Court of Approval has won since he has gone handicapping too, and won at Great Leighs off 81. Even the 5th, Ray of Joy, boosted the form, albeit at a lower grade, when she won a class 6 handicap at Kempton off 64. She got closer to the winner last time out when, under the ride of Ryan Moore, she was shaken up 1 furlong out and stayed on at the end to take 3rd (beaten 1.75 lengths). That race came at the beginning of the month and few have run since to assess the strength of that form, but she is well worth a crack at this trip now given her past efforts and because she is by a horse that won multiple times over 7f as a juvenile. She races from out of the handicap, but only by 1lb, and on such a low mark for a Hannon horse I'll give her a blast. 12/1 Sky bet EW
