Macedonia suffered a loss from Latvia in the first round of these qualifications. In the match, Macedonia was cleary better opponent, but Latvia’s center had big game with 30 points and 24 rebounds and despite so powerful performance, Macedonia missed two free throws on tied score on 1 second until the end of regular time, and one free throw on 6 seconds to end in the overtime and conceded a last second three pointer which was not three pointer and lost the match with one point difference. Macedonia is without a doubt the best team in this group. At home they trashed Portugal with 37 points difference and beat Estonia away comfortable with 12 points. If they win this match, the road to Poland 2009 will be widely open for them. When they are playing at home, there is huge crowd support and rarely they are winning with small difference. Players are keen for revenge for that loss and without a doubt, Stefanov, Ilievski, Samardziski, Antic, Massey and Gecevski are much better than one man team.
