4.05 9 go to post for this class 5 handicap over the minimum distance. Desperate Dan goes in search of the hat-trick but this represents a tougher test than the claimer and apprentices races he's won in his last two at Bath, but he's respected running off top weight. Tyrannasaurus Rex won LTO too, but that was in a class 6 handicap so not only does he have to cope with facing better rivals here, he's up 7 lb in the handicap and didn't beat much LTO (2nd and 3rd rated 45 and 51). The one that interests me is the other hat-trick chaser, Hurricane Harriet. R M H Cowell's filly won over 6f here on her last two runs so clearly likes the course. She's running off 65 today, 4 lbs higher than from her last win, but she had the 70-rated Artistic License behind LTO (and she franked the form by winning NTO off 72) and Whiteoak Lady back in 4th. The latter was rated 72 but was shouldering a 6 lb penalty. Although she didn't win that day, she had previously picked up a race off 68 - above what Hurricane Harriet is rated here. That form looks strong as it came at class 5 (same as today) too although her win at class 6 in her run previous to that looks okay form as Towy Boy (2nd) was rated 63. Hurricane Harriet has clearly shown progression beyond that rival now, racing at a higher level. Ted Durcan takes the mount and providing the drop back to 5f doesn't inconvenience she looks to have a very good chance on identical ground to her win last time.
