Re: Rich in Olympic Games Providing people talk odds/chances then I'll be interested. Can't stand the pick-the-winner mentality that goes on all the time in this place :zzz. Maybe one day someone will show that they actually have ability as a punter and even go as far as posting their own odds market :eyes. :D

Re: Rich in Olympic Games Boxing - Light Welterweight 64kg Bradley Saunders @ 25/1 (SkyBet) will definately come down in price. I live in the same town and everyone round here is backing him. Spoke to him not so long ago and hes extremely confident of a medal (around 5 or 6/1). Im sure he beat the 7/4 second favorite earlier in the year and wont be far away. Will be 16/1 at best by Sunday.

Re: Rich in Olympic Games Australia to finish 1st of his group @ 1.55 bwin women basketball During a preparation tournement Australia will play against USA and loose only by 4 : 71-67 . 2 day before Russia who will be the second favorit for the 1st place of the group loose 58-93 vs USA. Australia got very quality player who play in Russian club of Moscow or Ekateriburg and know all of Russian team. If Australia will win against Russia 1st place of the group is 99% sure and judging for compare result i think they will have a big chance. Australia win 112-43 against Mali and Russia win only 52-79. Re: Rich in Olympic Games I think he is talking about 200m? With Gay not in it after falling in the US trials I think he has to be strong favourite The 100m is different; Betfair have Bolt as favourite at 2.52, Powell at 3.55 and Gay at 3.7 Think Gay is value here as he does not have the 200m as well and can focus on the 100m only. He has shown class over the last year, and should these 3 get to the final it should be a cracker

Agreed, in such a close race it can pay just to back the outsider as they all have beat each other previously.

Re: 2008 Olympic Games Have changed the title of this thread. There hasn't been massive interest pre-games so I think we'll be able to go with just one thread so anything Olympics wise (other than football which can be seen in the international football forum) goes in here be it swimming, athletics, hockey or any other non football sport :ok

Re: 2008 Olympic Games Think that the British Men's 4-man team (rowing) is a bit of a steal for Gold at 7/4 (can get nearly 2/1 on Betfair). Looked most comfortable in the heats today and its been the focus of the British rowing team for the last 10 years.

Re: 2008 Olympic Games I've taken the 15 year old Elizabeth Beisel from USA tonight to win the Womens 400m Individual medlay final in the pool. Shes been the fast women in the world at this distance/event so far this year I heard the commentator say and she qualified for the final the fastest:hope:hope 5/1

Re: 2008 Olympic Games Guys, Good match up in the basketball today with Germany taking on Angola. Germany should be able to overwhelm Angola with their superior height. The Angolans all play in their domestic league and whilst they had some good results in the last world champs they no longer have the element of surprise or any height. The Germans have 3 seven footers whilst no Angolans are more than 6 foot 8. The Germans should be able to dominate the paint and get off very high % shots. If the Germans protect the ball they should win easily. Take Germany -11.5 at $1.90 with Betfair. BetBuddha Bet to Win

Re: 2008 Olympic Games Guys, Another good match up in the basketball today, this time in the Womens with Latvia taking on Belarus. Both teams aren't prolific point scorers, and you'll find it will be a pretty tight tussle in the early rounds. Take under 141.5 total match points at $1.90 with Betfair

I agree mate. They looked very strong in qualifying. I'm going to go with a couple of swimming bets. 6pts J.Lezak to win Mens 100m Freestyle 10/3 Paddy Power Eamon Sullivan is all the rage in this race but he's more of a 50m specialist rather than the 100m. The main danger looked like being the Frenchman Alain Bernard. That was until the final of the 4x100m relay when Lezak anchored the US team and sped past Bernard in the last 25m of the race. Lezak's split in that relay was a sensational 46.06 seconds. Obviously he won't swim that quickly here but that was so far under the current 100m world record that if he can swim close to it he would have every chance of taking the gold. Regardless of times though, the way Lezak flew past Bernard in that relay spoke volumes and should Sullivan go out too quickly in the 1st 50m as 50m specialists tend to do then the veteran American can be the one to capitalise and claim the gold. 5pts R.Adlington to win Womens 800m Freestyle 2/1 Sportingbet Britain's Becky Adlington has already won the gold in the 400m freestyle and coming into these games her best event was touted as being the 800m. With that in mind, the 19 year old has to have every chance of doubling up here. Her main rival on paper is the female Phelps Katie Hoff who coming into this game was targetting 6 golds. She's already failed with two. In the final of the 400m, Hoff had Adlington well beat but in the last 50m the Briton put on the afterburners and flew back to her American rival. Adlington looked stronger and stronger as the race went on and that should bode very well for the 800m where I think Adlington can beat Hoff again to win the gold.

Re: 2008 Olympic Games Guys, Womens swimming today, 200 metre freestyle final. Pellegrini set a world record in the heat and looked very, very strong in the Semi. She looks to be more suited to the 200m than the 400m in which she was a beaten favourite. Back Pellegrini to win at $1.88 with Betfair.

Re: 2008 Olympic Games

SportAthletics
EventOlympics: Mens 1500m
SelectionBernard Lagat
Strength5/10
Date15/08/2008
Bookmaker/PriceSkybet @ 8.00 (Back)
ReasoningWon both the 1500 and 5000 at World Championships last year and aiming to do the same again here, and I reckon he can do. His price is so big because his times are a little outside the world record but with the humidity in Beijing you would think the field will go a slightly slower pace. The 33yr old is so experienced and his finishing kick could well put alot of these athletes to the sword here. The favourite is 21yr old Augustine Choge and with no major experience behind him, the occasion could just get to him. The value is definetly Lagat.

ReasoningWorld champion coming into this event and the others need to produce a huge personal best to even get near him. Odds against is a very fair price and he is probably Britains best hope of a Gold in the track and field events.

Re: 2008 Olympic Games Men Volleyball: USA - Bulgaria (14 August, kick-off is at 14:00 GMT, I believe) On paper both sides should be at the same level so I expect a tight match and balanced odds. Currently offered odds are around 1.6-1.7 for USA and I think that's ok for a small bet. My reasons? Bulgaria is very strong in attack and we love to play as underdogs (in fact we managed to beat world superpower Brazil a few times in the past couple of years) and we usually fail against less glamorous teams. It seem to be a motivation problem. But now our team is in a strange situation. Our captain is trying to become a Chairman of the Bulgarian volleyball federation and the current Chairman is not too happy with it. Allegedly that's why it was announced the the captain has health problems (later announcement said high levels of testosterone) and he was sent back to Bulgaria (might fly back to Beijing but not in time for the USA match). So it's a big loss for us. Then young serve receiver Kostadin Stoikov (not a key player) is injured. So is experinced Todor Alexiev (he's an important player although he's not a star). That means our 12-men squad has shrunk to 9 for the match against USA, we lost 25% of our players. And it means we have only one regular serve receiver, he will be helped by Boyan Yordanov. Even with these problems Bulgaria managed to beat China and Japan 3:1. USA on the other hand beat Venezuela (3:2) and Italy (3:1). I expect USA to bring on their huge serve tomorrow and trouble our not-so-experienced receivers. Bulgaria will surely give them a run for their money but I expect USA will be fresher and they should win 3:1 (odds around 3.8) or 3:2 (odds around 4.5). A small bet for me on 3:1 and 3:2 for USA.

Re: 2008 Olympic Games Men Volleyball: Poland - Serbia (14 August, 6:30 GMT?) Poland are being treated as underdogs and I can't see why. I rate both teams highly and perhaps Serbia is on the way down, Poland on the way up. Poland already disposed of poor Egypt and decent Germany 3:0. Serbia lost against the big favourites Brazil and Russia 1:3. Russia then proceeded to beat Germany 3:2. I believe Poland should be light favourites against Serbia (or at least treated as equals). Odds for Poland are above 2.35 and I will take it for a mid-size bet. Huge value on this one in my eyes!
