Why do bookmakers hate arbitrage betting

Hi All, I was discussing with a sports bookmaker (I won't mention the name because I don't want to bad-mouth him) a few days ago and he stated that they are against advertising on odds comparison sites (oddschecker, easyodds, betbrain, oddsexchange and the like) because these are frequented by professionals!? I didn't exactly get this - its my understanding that bookies should be happy to take any action as long as it balances their books and they can then change the odds according to the amount of play received!?? Why are sports bookies against arbitrage betting? Surely, it shouldn't effect them if some smart wise guys are trying to squeeze a profit of their own?
