Although jumps aren't my thing I do tend to cast my eye over the maiden hurdles. I say jumps aren't my thing but I think I'm 2/2 so far this season. ;):) 2.10 These usually don't take a lot of winning and they do go to form more often than not. Jim Goldie does well with his jumpers here and he looks to have found a great opportunity for Regents Secret to win his first over sticks. Granted he is tackling this game late - 8yo and had 82 flat races - and I'm sure he probably isn't going to be any great shakes over hurdles, but he should be too good for his rivals here. His novice hurdle form last Autumn is the best form on offer of that type, and his 4th (of 7) in a Class 3 Handicap off 105 in December makes in a 1/2 on shot in my eyes for this. His LTO 3rd in a novice hurdle here with 105 and 113 horses filling the 1-2 proves he wasn't flattered by that handicap run and he should have enough to take this. Only 1 win from last 35 runs however so pieces that are back on here should help. Past form with them fitted is 33312676 (ran to form at least each time). First time he has worn them over jumps and like I say they could make the difference. Yard took this race with a similar type (Ballyhurry) in 2006. He was a 9yo just starting over hurdles who had previously had a long flat career. Around 11/8 at the moment on betfair. Regents Secret 100% of stake

Re: Perth 13/07/08 In the 2.10 race i think Regent Secret will go off around even's or shorter i feel to is far to short for this moody horse may well win but to many ifs and buts for me and is a lay at that price.I will be backing MISS BALLYGALLEY one of the Irish trained runners in the field.Since winning a point to pointer has ran decent and finished 4th twice under rules at 20/1 and 40/1 has been dropped to 2m today and at 16's is my e/w bet. Two win bets for me in the 4.50 the class horse in the race is PRINCE AMONG MEN 5/1 and stable mate to the fav in the first HO PANG YAU 13/2 the drop back to hurdles may to the trick for this one.
