Re: Sandown Park 04/07/08 4.00 Listed race here. Bushman has impressed lately, but makes the step up from a class 3 handicap so must find quite a bit more. He has proven course form over a mile but showed he stayed this far with an impressive win over the trip at Windsor on his preceding run. Spanish Moon has previously won a listed race and should see out the trip. However, he ran a disappointing 6th when upped to group 2 company at Ascot LTO. Charlie Farnsbarns scored on his re-appearance at York but finished 5th LTO in a Group 3 over CD. Perhaps he is suited to shorter as he faded inside the final furlong in that last race. Escape Route has looked inconsistent in handicaps so can easily be opposed here. Many Volumes was short of room LTO when finishing a 1 length second to Supaseus at Ascot in a listed contest, so even though he is yet to score beyond handicap races, it must only be a matter of time until he changes that statistic. He had some decent enough horses behind last time (Group 3 winner Halicarnassus, Illustrious Blue and Under the Rainbow had won listed races before). Stage Gift is a group horse racing in a listed race here, having won a Group 3 at Longchamp and a Group 2 at York, on his final two runs of last season. In fact, he is a triple group winner as he won at Newmarket in 2006 too. He has won on a variety of grounds, including Gd/Frm, is proven over the trip, and even though returns from an absence of 272 days, has gone well fresh in the past (won on reappearance in April 2006 after being rested since Sept 05, albeit in lesser company). If he returns in good fitness then Dettori's mount should take all the beating, with Many Volumes perhaps the danger.
