The maiden is the only race that really interests me. 4.00 Down the card: Rasmani - Hasn't shown anything yet and on average has been beaten 26l for each start. Dark Prospect - Must've shown something at home prior to his racecourse debut last year and he opened at 10/3 for it. Didn't show in that or on his other 2yo start. Stepped up on those efforts this year, was 5th to Lazy Days on his seasonal debut beaten just over 6l. It was a decent maiden with the 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 9th all winning since (4th, 7th, 8th haven't run) and the winner ran a cracker to finish 5th in the Britannia. Was well fancied on his 2nd start this season but could only manage 3rd in a Windsor handicap. That is another race that has worked out ok. The 8th, 9th and 10th have come out and won and the 5th would've won twice had he not thrown races away. He was 3rd again off the same mark LTO in a Haydock handicap. He has been staying on at the same pace in those races and I believe the extra two furlongs here may bring out that little bit of improvement that will get his head in front. Day Trip - Both maidens he has contested are working out ok but he was well beaten in them both. Held by Hendersyde on debut running. May be interesting once he goes handicapping after today. Dixie Dean - Not often you'll see a Stoute horse a double figure price for a Brighton maiden (9/19 at the track) but he hasn't shown anything in two starts yet. Held by Hendersyde also and looks like he'd appreciate further too. Hendersyde - Cost 300k and is clearly well thought of. Backed from 10s to 7/2 on his debut at Lingfield but played up beforehand and run very green. Showed promise though staying on to finish 5th beaten 6l. The race is working out ok with the 2nd winning a Listed race NTO. Filled the same position on his 2nd start at Windsor. Hard to know what to make of that form yet but my initial reaction is that is was below average for a Windsor maiden. I'm sure he'll win races, yard are in form but not know for winners here (1/24). Zuwaar - Just one length and one place behind Hendersyde in that Lingfield maiden and Richard Hills takes the mount for the first time. Gingham - Wasn't disgraced in two runs at two but stepped up on those efforts now she has been upped in trip at three. 4th in Authur's Girl's maiden FTO and showed a similar level of form to that of Dark Prospect when 3rd off 73 in a Nottingham handicap. First run outside fillies' races. It's not a certainty that Hendersyde will confirm placings with Zuwaar and I wouldn't be surprised if either of them played a part in the finish. I just think however that Ginham and Dark Prospect are more forward than those two at the minute and I expect one of those to come out on top. Gingham is currently just under 6/4 at the moment and Dark Prospect is just under 3/1 - I feel they should be closer in the betting and as I expect Dark Prospect to improve for the step up to 10f I'm edging his way. Will possibly have a RFC depending on how they bet nearer the race. Dark Prospect 100% of stake Hard to predict the betting at Brighton, I've gone in for a bit at 3.85/3.9 and will wait for the morning for the rest.
