Just out of interest, how much would it cost (roughly) to sponsor a race. Nothing fancy, maybe a class 5 or 6 at a lower grade track.

Re: How much would it cost? Lee, Doesnt always depend on the class of race as you are not paying the prize money but paying for the advertising you get by sponsoring a race. Some tracks charge more for the better races but for example on a mid week race day on a low grade track the class of the races will be roughly the same anyway. The price depends on what you want as a lot of courses include lots of extras that you may not want, like banner advertising, racecard advert etc.... As a rough guide heres 3 examples; Brighton starts at £1,000 +vat Yarmouth stats at £1,000 +vat Stratford starts at £750 +vat plus £100 towards trophy or prize for race. Some courses will tell you their prices on their websites like the ones above but the big ones like Cheltenham dont. Some people think you have to pay the prize money of the race but this is all sorted by the BHA and the grants they give each course to stage race meetings, the rest is met by the courses which part of it is paid for by the sponsors and racegoers.
