voiceofjoe
Following on from the success of PL'ers getting to Vegas and from a few questions asked in the Tourney Victory threads, I thought it might be useful to start a thread of general tips for people going out there for the first time. I know Brian (WASP) and Alun (Teaulc) both attended last years WSOP and some of the lads have been frequent visitors. I'll start with a repeat of the advice I gave in the Tourney Thread ** Pay the bit extra and get a Hotel near to the 'action' which is central strip. ** It may be 100 degrees outside but inside the Poker Rooms is bloody freezing - (take some long johns and thermal vest :eyes) ** Be prepared to walk a lot, everywhere is huge. ** Register for your Harrahs player Card, and the tourney if you have to buy yourself in, at an 'Off Peak' time - preferably around breakfast time. Football-Tipper
Re: Tips for Vegas Get friendly with the girl who runs the sports book then you dont need to do the $20 trick. Always ask what comps you are entitled to before settling the bill. Take a trip to Ellis island and ask for the steak special well worth it and a fun casino aswell (you get your food free really) Have bottled water with you most of the time it hit 50 last year and people do die in it. Take an empty suitcase, with the strength of the £ you will want to buy buy buy when you get shopping. Jeans about £10 Trainers £55 for a pair that costs £95 here everything is like its in a sale. Go for the buffet at the Spice Market (Planet Hollywood) Amazing!! When you get in a Taxi make sure they dont take u the long way round.... Worked for me last year. http://www.frontdesktip.com/index.php Have you read some of them :lol $20 trick at the Venetian (they would laugh you out of the hotel) The Paris one is also funny. GB80
Re: Tips for Vegas I put a $20 between my credit card and license, in case she saw it and was insulted. I planned on saying, "Oh, how did THAT get in there?!?!" Instead, this girl asked, "Is this for me, sweetie?" I replied, "Of course. Do you have any room upgrades available?" ...then it got good! She said, "Make it $100 and your suite with come with me in the jacuzzi when I get off work." Being Vegas, I figured - why not gamble this $100? Sure enough, my 2-day trip went from business to pleasure. Thanks FrontDeskTip! :lol:lol
