Bath 19th May

Recommended Posts

2.00 2 yo novices stakes to open the card and a couple of interesting ones. The two debutants don't make much appeal on breeding considering Loched Up is out of a 9-12f winner and Red Myth is out of a 10f winner. They only race over 5f here. Sally's Dilemma drops in class looking to put behind her a hat-trick of unplaced efforts after winning on her debut at Doncaster. Zezao was behind River Rye on her debut, but the latter, along with Street of Hope, has now been withdrawn. Zezao made some moderate late headway on his debut at Windsor on firm ground. He drops in class here but the two who impressed most on previous form are Lucky Leigh and Fangfoss Girls. Lucky Leigh impressed for Mick Channon when scoring on her debut at Redcar earlier this month. She drew clear towards the finish and was a comfortable 4 1/2 lengths winner over this trip on identical ground. The stable are inform and she should go well again with conditions to suit. Fangfoss Girls has won two from two this season - the first on soft ground at Thirsk and the second on the polytrack at Wolverhampton (when she won by 7 lengths from Sub Prime). We know she is suited to the trip, whether she does on the ground has to be taken on trust. 80 % stake Lucky Leigh (11/10 Betfred) 20 % stake Fangfoss Girls to beat Lucky Leigh SF @ 6.64 Bet 365 4.00 Winning Show (5/1 various) - didn't do much when with Ron Harris last year but seen an upturn in fortunes since switching to Andrew Balding's yard. Has been sent off the fav for its last two runs but has come second on both occassions. However, the margin of defeat both times has been small - 0.75 l and a head - including one over course and distance. Balding has 23 wins here at Bath over the past five years, that is almost the same as the win records of the rest of the trainers in this race combined (27!). :hope

Re: Bath 19th May 2.00 BATH - LUCKY LEIGH This looks an absolute certainty to me in the 1st, first time ive ever said this but 4/6 looks to be a good price. Mick Channon is on fire atm, especially with his 2y/o's. There is nothing in this race to beat this horse, especially with River Rye a non runner. Couldnt have won easier on debut, & can win again here. 4/6 Win 2.30 BATH - WHISKEY JUNCTION Kevin Ryan trains the 5/4 favourite here, WOTASHIRTFULL, this was beaten well at 4/6 lto, & to be honest couldnt back it all today. Some people see it as a tip K Ryan has sent this all the way to Bath, it strikes of desperation with this horse to me. The selection WHISKEY JUNCTION, will have needed the latest run, has obviously had problems but A Balding has kept hold of this horse. At 3/1 this is a much better betting proposistion than the favourite here & should be well upto winning this. 3/1 Win
