Musselburgh - 11/04/08

Recommended Posts

These were my early thoughts for tomorrows card although not narrowing down my picks until I can see some morning prices. 2.30 - Grizebeck - this one has been kept fresh with a string of good efforts on the all weather and has started the flat season well, placing at Redcar and then winning at Catterick LTO over this distance. Hanagan rides again today, looking to extend their winning run and although it carries a 6 lb penalty and is up 2 lb in the handicap should go well again. Any rain would not be a problem. 3.05 - Lucayan Dancer - drops in class here and as the highest rated horse in the field warrants respect in this type of race. It has won handicaps off higher marks in the past so should go well in this seller. Couple of recent runs will have win freshened up and hopefully last run can be ignored as he conceded weight in a small field. Goes on both soft or firm ground although it does seem suited to shorter distances that this. The veteran Court of Appeal has been given a great chance by the handicapper. Won a claimer off 73 and placed off 70 back in a handicap last year and runs off 63 tomorrow. Court of Appeal is a CD winner who is very versatile with regards to the ground and has recorded a string of wins over 12f. Friends Hope won at this course LTO over 9f and although has placed over 11f before, has never proven itself over 12f. Sophie Doyle claims 7 lbs tomorrow which makes things interesting as it was already dropped 5 lbs in the handicap from its last winning run, and this one too could go well off bottom weight if it sees out the trip. 3.40 - Stevie Thunder - won over CD on its debut last year and placed in 2nd by a length on its reappearance LTO at Nottingham and although up 6 lbs in the ratings, is again partnered by PJ McDonald who claims the 3 lb and has got a 1st and a 2nd out of it previously. 4.50 - Cha Cha Cha has won on both of its previous runs here but there are doubts as to whether it will see out the mile. Goes on the ground but got to prove itself off a 7 lb higher mark. One that does last the distance is Ansell's Pride, a CD winner last season who is only up 5 lbs from his win here last season. This one probably wouldn't want any rain but it excels over 8f and will be fresh for a run at Southwell when it placed back in second (1.25l). Stoic Leader is another CD winner who was narrowly beaten LTO and Catterick and has won off a 7 lb higher mark on the flat previously. However, its form in between has been very hit and miss. 5.25 - Alexander Hurricane makes its turf debut but has produced a string of consistent efforts on the AW and is interesting over a trip that is ideal. Rothesay Dancer could go really well down to a very attractive mark. It will have come on for a recent outing at Redcar and is a CD winner who goes on any ground. Back down to a winning mark again now.
