billy the punter
I know it's Aintree today but we have to have a flat thread too! 5.40 This is the only decent handicap on the card. It's the only race where we have sufficent form to go on. I've got a few negatives for quite a few of the runners; Lap of Honour/Heywood/Secred Liason - all best watched at the moment for new connections. Fifty Cents - Charlton's fancied runners this week ran well below form. Will wait before I follow the stable. He may want further too. Dens Gift - again, not sure if the stable is firing yet, ground worry too. Dakota Rain - trip and fitness a worry. Bustan - no form on easy ground. Gilded Youth - stable has poor record here. This leaves The Osteopath (3.2), Kyle (7.6), Guiled Warrior (14), Thabaat (27), Sailor King (30). The Osteopath bolted up FTO this year over a 1m on soft ground. However he isn't totally well in carrying a penalty, his trainer said he was fit for his seasonal debut so it's not certain he will improve for that run. He is solid but his price reflects that. He is his price, simple as, chances not enough value for me. Sailor King has won on the ground in France, he is a big price but probably not well handicapped on what he has done on turf. Usually campaigned on the A/W. Thabaat was sold out of Barry Hills' yard for 17k in the winter. He isn't badly handicapped on a few runs and has form on going and when fresh. He is another that may want further but could be a typical money spinner for his yard. They have done really well with Maktoum cast-offs in the past. Kyle too a while to win and there was question marks over him at one time. He has been placed 9 times from 18 starts but one only twice. Both wins have come over 6f on fast ground but he does have form on easy ground and over 7f. He is on a winable mark now and if he lasts home he should figure. Guilded Warrior is back to a mark similar to his last winning one and is fairly consistent when things are in his favour. He has never been out the fram on soft going (343111). Fitness an issue but his record when fresh is ok, he finished 6th at 33/1 on his 2yo debuy, he was 3rd on his 3yo debut betean under 2l, and won FTO last year. The jockey is a worry, I've never heard of Timothy Meadows, although he has ridden a winner for the yard. The price makes up for that though. Guilded Warrior 50% of stake 14 betfair Kyle 40% of stake 7.6 betfair Thabaat 10% of stake 27 betfair
