The Sky Poker Boot Camp is an intensive two-day program intended to provide tuition for poker players keen to develop their key skills and knowledge through an authentic and relevant learning experience. Aimed primarily at beginners and intermediate players, the integrated curriculum includes lectures, live game play and interactive modules, with open Q &A sessions for students with specific queries. Instructors will not only teach the fundamental disciplines of poker, but discuss their own personal experiences in the world of poker providing a truly insightful experience. There will also be plenty of opportunities to corner your favorite Sky Poker faces and grind them down with your bad beat stories and individual problems... Where and When will the Boot Camp be held? The Boot Camp is a full 2-day event, starting at 10.30am on Saturday 8th March and finishing at around 4pm on Sunday 9th March 2008. We wanted to select an unforgettable venue for the Boot Camp so we have chosen the impressive Gala Gala Casino Harbourside , located in the heart of Bristol! The Gala Harbourside boasts not only a recently refurbished state-of-the-art card room, perfect for the Boot Camp, but an Ice Bar, Air Lounge, Champagne Bar and restaurant that's seen rave reviews! It's the perfect setting for an unforgettable poker experience! There's an early start for the first day of Boot Camp so we have included details below of a nearby hotel should you wish to book in on Friday night (cost not inc. in Boot Camp price). On Friday night informal welcome drinks will be available in the Casino with members of the Sky Poker Boot Camp team. The Boot Camp Instructors We are lucky enough to have an all-star cast of poker professionals to instruct and pass on the benefit of their varied experiences in the poker world. Sky Poker's Matt Broughton and Nick Wealthall will be your chief instructors and hosts for the weekend, with additional course contributions from Sky Poker's Kara Scott and the ever-popular Tony 'Tikay' Kendall. Familiar faces from Sky Poker's The Open, The Club and Poker Week will also be stopping by over the weekend to join in the fun Sit-Down, Shuffle Up & Meal! Following a warm welcome and introduction on Saturday morning, students will receive their "Boot Camp starter packs" which includes a Boot Camp file to collect exclusive course notes and handouts in, and classes will begin! The course is interspersed with plenty of opportunities to practice newly-developed skills in various live playing sessions and culminates in a tournament, where students can put their new skills to the test and even play against the pros. Prizes include exclusive merchandise and guest seats on a live show! One of the anticipated highlights of the weekend will be the Saturday night dinner and poker tournament for all students and tutors at the boot camp. Here's a chance to not only flex your new-found poker muscles, but to take down some familiar faces from the world of Sky Poker. Before classes begin again on Sunday morning there will be a review of the tournament, along with an awards ceremony for those players fortunate enough to have taken down the various bounty players attending the event. Friday, Pre Boot Camp - for students arriving on Friday night (cost of accommodation not included in Boot Camp cost) we will provide informal welcome drinks with members of the Boot Camp Team. Saturday, Day 1 - we'll provide refreshments on arrival and lunch and dinner at the Casino. 1 night hotel accommodation is included, details of which will be given to students on confirmation of Boot Camp reservation. Sunday, Day 2 - Breakfast will be available at the hotel and refreshments and lunch will be provided at the casino during the day. Gala Harbourside *IMPORTANT: The Bristol Harbourside Casino is a member's only venue for adults over 18 years old. You will need to complete a simple form at reception and ensure that on the day you can present photo ID in the form of a Passport, driving license or UK ID card. Failure to present the appropriate ID will prevent you from participating in the Boot Camp. Dress code: Smart but Casual. No sandals, white trainers, shorts, football shirts, hoodies or hats are permitted. As parts of the event may be filmed, clothing with poker-room branding will not be permitted.
