Re: Cheltenham 15/12 3.10 KAtchit has a 100% record round here 4 from 4 & is the only 4yo in the race taking on his elders. It has to race in these type of races & we know what it did to last years winner Detroit city who seem to be worried out of the game before its untimely death last month. The irish come with a stronghand with Macs Joy & Sublimity & have enjoyed recent success in this having won 2 of the last 3 years runnings. Henderson hasnt had a winner for over 2 weeks & until he does, i am not convinced his horses are fit enough yet. Xmas may be the time they come good as they normally do. I adore Desert Quest & i took all sorts of prices before last years Champion hurdle & they pulled it out. I am certain its good enough to get a place in that event but i also have 130.0 on it winning the arkle this year & after 2 facile wins in novice chases it may be worth keeping an eye on. Nicholls may continue his Saturday successes with another one here but the irish 2 & the specialist Katchit stand in its way. The 8lb allowance just might help DQ in this race. Will take another look tomorrow at the prices to see what value there is.

Re: Cheltenham 15/12

Henderson had a winner yesterday Bowles. Jack The Giant. Though one winner does not an in form stable make. Is still a slight worry but he has had plenty of placed horses.
oops so he did, i hadnt updated todays results. I will see how his horses run before Afsouns race. If they run well, i might be tempted to back that against the irish 2. Can Katchit improve in this grade or is it up against it? I can still see Desert Q going close getting 8lb.

Re: Cheltenham 15/12 12.55 HASTY PRINCE E/W 15/2 Placed 3 from 6 here.Good trainer and jock and a nice e/w price. 2.40 IDOLE FIRST E/W 18/1 Poor run lto can do much better today and 18 looks big.Palarshan has a good chance but for me 9/1 is a poor price. 2.40 KNIGHT LEGEND E/W 25/1 (or better) This Irish trained horse can jump poorly at times but if can get act together can go close at a good price.

Re: Cheltenham 15/12 12.20 Franchoek Has been very impressive so far this season the best juvenile to be seen so far. Has the beating of a few of these and stable continues in good form. Short but will take the beating. 1.30 Gwanako win & Pouvior to PLACE I've sided with Pouvior all three times this season he has run but I'm going against him today (watch him bolt up) Gwanako is weighted to reverse places with Pigeon Island and Pouvior this time round and has better ground today. Will have a also back Pouvior to place. 3.10 Afsoun Not a lot of confidence behind Sublimity and I'm not backing him on his seasonal debut. Katchit might come on for that run last time against older horses and has a perfect record round here but still has something to prove today to me. Afsoun dropping down in trip and is proven at this level, has race fitness on his side, hope he finds enough if in a battle as we got Macs joy will will give his all to the end along with Katchit.

Re: Cheltenham 15/12 Sublimity 3.10 Cheltenham Im not bothered about the lack of a recent run as he's won from fresh before. He suits these smaller fields and the way he won the Champ Hurdle I think he will take all the beating today kicking on the last couple of furlongs.

Re: Cheltenham 15/12 12.20 Franchoek 4/5 15 pts win For these connections a 4 yr old for next year is hugely respected and at times it can be even over hyped but not this one, gone from strength to strength and the win lto was impressive at the course, strong claims. 1.30 My Turn Now 6/1 7.5 pts e.w Interesting race with a few with decent claims but at an e.w price this one has to be respected on last years form, lto it was poor but as well as possibly needing the run it will like the ground not be really quick if not still quick. Possibly had better form last year than some of the more fancied runners here. 2.05 Tidal Bay 10/11 15 pts In my TTTF with various options come March being all fit and well but capable of taking this before. Some in here who could be anything have to be feared but this one has had a couple of runs and boosted some decent wins and lots of improvement to come, has speed and yet stays well, good combination. 2.40 Abragante 13/2 e.w 7.5 pts Good place claims at least. Did not quite see it out in the Hennessy lto so drop back could well be ideal. Will do everything on the bridle so question marks if in a battle but AP booked so it might not have much option come crucnh and a decent e.w bet imo New Alco 12/1 e.w 7.5 pts Again disappointed in the Hennessy but on reflection from connections there was a feeling that it did not appreciate the ground and on other form it must be respected, highly weighted but has been before and ran good races and even though it could find one too good possibly, place claims. 3.10 Macs Joy 6/1 e.w 10 pts. I have advised this for the CH hurdle @ 25/1 and any kind of good run today and that should drop. I just look at the CH picture in general and Im unconvinced by the standard of this recent form imo and therefore believe Macs Joy's secomd to Brave Inca at his peak is the best in the CH picture. A few reasons I say that. Sublimity, the CH winner I am unconvinced by and it could well prove me wrong, I got Voy Por right last week so I will probably get this wrong. Firstly I am always sceptical when horses like Sublimity find so much 'improvement', looking at the race I feel it was set up for him in some ways by a stupid pace and the fact Afsoun stayed on for 3 showed that imo, Brave Inca and Hardly eustace were almost legless, plus there is a question as to whether he will be totally ready today. Osana last run was a blinder considering the Pipe team and is feared as maybe Straw Bear who the trainer imo has mislead as I thought he said it was going chasing, if he keeps fit in some ways he has Sublimity and Afsoun covered. However on the hope Macs Joy can recereate its old form and that is a question still, I plump for this, trainer recent record a slight negative but has a lot still going, already had a run and such an amazing weight pull.

This should be a great race Carl, i am just worried by some of the comments made this week & if they have any sense they are aiming the horse to win back to back Champions. I think it will be 1st 3 today but Katchit is now top of my list ahead of Desert Quest & Afsoun. Katchit gets 4lb from the market leaders & that may tip the scales. :ok

Re: Cheltenham 15/12 yeah I hear you mate, connections dont feel very confident do they? but the 1 thing that keeps nagging me is the record of Favourites in this race and the fact it does go well fresh. If he's in the mix near the finish he has got the turn of foot to pull away. Ill probably look for another as a saver tho. Fooking heads spinning this morning.

Re: Cheltenham 15/12 this 2.40 is doing my head in, Had a bit of info re- NLB but 2 things are putting me off it, 1, the drying ground ( suppose to be good now and NLB needs cut) 2, the favourites record in this race. :drums I think Abragante E/W is the safer option.

Re: Cheltenham 15/12 This is my take on the meeting 12.20 Franchoek taking same path as Katchit did last year. Should not be beaten, current 4/6 price will go no doubt. 12.55 Maljimar would have gone to Donny today & has to be treated with respect off this low weight. I am not sure Saintsaire is the same animal on faster ground although reports yesterday said it was a bit tacky. 1.30 My turn Now can take this event if showing the form it did last year. Has won here so no problemt with the track & will like the ground. 2.05 Tidal bay is the one to beat. I wasnt convinced by it last time as it seemed to jump a bit lazily for me. This place will sharpen it up though & should be better going left handed. 2.40 New little bric will be the subject of a big saturday Nicholls plunge & all the vibes are good. Nicholls hasnt won the race before which is a worry & favs have a poor record. As a saver i'd take New Alco / Idole first both to run well. 3.10 Katchit is the young pretender in the race. It has to run against these now & i think it will improve from its run at Newcastle & hopefully they woould have learnt a lot from that run. This track suits the horse & will go close. 3.40 Souffler was very impressive LTO & Razor Royale exceled in the heavy ground LTO. Might look at an ew if 8 runners remain as not sure about these 2 market leaders yet. Nenuphar collonges may be the one.

Re: Cheltenham 15/12 Regarding Sublimity, I read elsewhere that the owner? is a pro punter and they are just playing down its chances for a better price. Won last years Champ Hurdle really well and was a top flat horse too. Straw Bear looks a big price to me. Not had a proper look at the race yet though.

Re: Cheltenham 15/12 1.30. Cheltenham Good Bye Simom @c9/2. Looks to me the only geniune Grade 1 performer in this race. Form in France far superior to the standard of this race. If able to act on the firmer suface today surely must have a great chance. If it was soft would deserve a decent size bet 3.10 Cheltenham. If Sublimity falls shorts here then a decent forecast could be acheived. Katchit I can't have. His limitations were clearly indicated LTO at Newcastle and I will be backing these 3 in a small stakes combi exacta. Plus an win and place bet on the exchanges for Straw Bear. and small win bets on the exchanges for the other 2 listed below. Straw Bear.:hope.:hope Forget the Champion Hurdle where he boke a blood vessel. Previous form clearly indicates ability to be in the mix here. Acts on the track and beaten both the favourite and 2nd favourite in the past. Macs Joy:hope Will get the going he requires today. Afsoun.:hope In fine form judged on last outing and shorter distance of today's race should help. But remember was beaten by Straw Bear 7l lengths last year at Wincanton.

I'm sure those that backed Franchoek will disagree. ;)

Re: Cheltenham 15/12 Have backed against Sublimity today but have him in my TTTF list that is going fairly well (6 wins). Also have Tidal Bay in that list too.:hope Kauto Star, Denman, Twist Magic, Inglis Drever, L'Antartique and Tidal Bay the scorers so far. Have 7 TTTF horses running at Cheltenham today from 11 lists.
