Since 1998, only one horse - Bacchanal in 2000 - has won this without prior experience of jumping a fence in public. Denman's younger brother Silverburn, a very useful hurdler, makes his eagerly awaited debut over fences in one of the races Denman won last year. Lead On and Air Force One also run in their first chase, the latter unraced since finishing 2nd to Wichita Lineman in the Spa Novices Hurdle at last season's Cheltenham Festival. The other four runners are already winners over fences, and Papini would have finished in the money in this grade at Cheltenham 12 days ago but for falling two out. Now to my race prediction - Charlie Mann stated in todays Racing Post "He schooled beautifully on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to running him - he has always looked a chaser in the making and this trip will be ideal. I think they've all got him to beat. With the inevitable avalanche of money on Silverburn I think this will be a stepping stone to bigger and better races, however it is a learning curve at the moment and I would rather take him on with Air Force One as it is rare that you hear Charlie Mann being so bullish!
