Re: Cricket: South Africa vs New Zealand ODI Series & Twenty20 International The Twenty20 international then. These 2 met in the world championships in Durban 2 months ago. SA won comfortably that time and I think they will tonight. 3 for me. 10pts SA -2.5wickets/20.5runs 10/11 Sportingbet South Africa beat New Zealand in the Twenty20 world cup in September and the way the tour has gone so far for NZ I expect them to win again here. New Zealand have been battered by injuries and they have a very inexperienced side out here now. South Africa are pretty much at full strength. They've even been able to leave Justin Kemp out of their side. New Zealand will be without Shane Bond who is back in New Zealand with an injury. Chris Martin and Jacob Oram have niggles which means they'll be rested for this game so their attack will be led by Mark Gillespie. With the bat, Craig McMillan, top scorer for the Kiwi's in that world cup match, has retired from international cricket and of course the loss of Oram effects the batting too. South Africa have left out Justin Kemp for Shaun Pollock but are at full strength other than that. With Albie Morkel in the side they bat a long way down. Remember he's the guy who swatted 6s for fun in the Twenty20 World Cup. Dale Steyn has been included in the squad too and given the damage he caused in the tests he's sure to play. The pitch will be good, it's the Bullring in Joburg where all the high scoring games in the world cup were played and with the altitude the ball should clear the ropes. It will definitely favour the better side and that is South Africa. 10pts Over 10 6s 6/4 Stan James 7 of the 9 matches played here in Johannesburg in the Twenty20 World Cup had over 10 6s and one of the two which didn't was when Bangladesh were humbled for 80 odd. The altitude here allows for high scoring and the short boundaries usually means that 6s come with regularity. Players like Graeme Smith, Herschelle Gibbs, Boucher, Morkel, Pollock, Vincent, Taylor, McCullum and even Styris will fancy their chances of clearing the ropes and I definitely see a few 6s here. The Twenty20 World Cup matches both sides played here will have shown them they can clear the ropes and this line looks 1 or 2 low so we'll take the overs. 5pts ew H.Gibbs Top South Africa Batsman 4/1 Boylesports Herschelle Gibbs just loves batting here. His greatest moment here came when he launched an assault on the Aussie bowlers in "that" ODI last year on his way to a record 175. He hit a brilliant 90 here on the opening night of the Twenty20 World Cup so he knows how to play that form of the game here too. He didn't have a bad test series with scores of 63, 8 and 25 but he's better suited in the limited overs games. Jacques Kallis is the main danger but he'll bat at 3 or 4 whereas Gibbs will open and I'll take him ew again here.
