Iktitaf likely to miss season!

Recommended Posts

TOP-CLASS Hurdler Iktitaf is likely to miss the remainder of the season after suffering what trainer Noel Meade described as “a nasty cut” schooling on Friday morning. Meade, who was preparing the winner of nine races for the Grade 1 Morgiana Hurdle on Sunday, said: “We decided to jump four hurdles with him this morning and it was only when he pulled up Paul noticed he had cut himself. “He got cut this morning to his near-fore and it's quite a nasty cut and it's looking like he'll miss the rest of the season.” Iktitaf had undergone a wind operation since last season's campaign and was 10-1 third favourite with Totesport for the Champion Hurdle, a race in which he fell three out when still travelling well last season. Meade added: “When you're training jumpers, you're always only one step away from disaster and it's a shame what happened as we were really looking forward to this season with him.” Totesport trimmed ante-post favourite Sublimity to 100-30 (from 4-1) and next best Katchit to 4-1 (from 5). Meade still has two of the eight runners in the Morgiana, run this year as the Maplewood Developments Hurdle, at Punchestown. Harchibald and last season's Christmas Hurdle hero Jazz Messenger will be joined by Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner Ebaziyan and Farmer Brown, winner of the Galway Hurdle in August.
