SteveO Posted October 24, 2007 Share Posted October 24, 2007 The best player I've ever stumbled across (as I mentioned in an earlier thread) was John Tabatabai (2nd WSOPE)at the Grosvenor Casino Cardiff in £5/£5 PL cash game with a live straddle. I was afraid to get involved in pots with him because his agression would put Gus Hansen to shame and he also had position. On the other hand if you had position on him you'd love him to be at a table with you. Read that he once blew a $20,000 bankroll online and I can understand this beacuse with a "super agressive" game you are going to have major swings in your P&L. He wasn't taking it seriously and I did take all of his chips quite quickly but the way he played the table and the reads he made were fantastic. ubermonkey1 Posted October 24, 2007 Share Posted October 24, 2007 Re: Best Player you've played against Live! i can't think of one player in particular and i haven't played any really big name players live but i can think of a few really good live players. morlspin is really good live(if he turns up:lol:lol) so is brian:eyes i have played these two a fair bit and they are always tricky to play. i also thought chess was pretty good when we played at the mkop final last year. also the local pros in vegas are always a tricky proposition i've played a few and its always hard work:eek. they either win enough off the holiday makers to live off ,or they work in another casino and get extra money on the tables.either way they live the game all day so really know their stuff:dude. when i was there last i saw the tourney director of ceasers palace playing in the paris hotel ,needless to say i stayed well away from his table;) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I played against Liam Flood when I was at the Scottish Open I tried to steal his big blind once and he owned me. Brian Martin .... :eyes You are not wrong mate :clap I own vegas :dude Obviously John Tabatabai blew me away and I have played against Ian Frazer a few times (and won) but one event that always sticks in my head is playing with the mole in Glasgow, he not only played his cards well he owned the table with his banter. We both made the final table, I finished 6th he went on to finish 2nd (we could have done better :beer). Sit down at empty table with 5 minutes before play commences thinking blind stealing. 5 minutes later table is full and from Seat 1 round to Seat 9: 1 - Gus Hansen 2 - Willie Tann 3 - Scott Fischmann 4 - Carlos Mortensen 5 - Unknown...to me anyway. 6 - Unknown... to me anyway. 7 - Comedian Dave Gorman - top man. 8 - Moi 9 - Mel Judah Hmmmm - oh and when Dave Gorman got eliminated just for good measure Joe Beevers gets moved to our table! :notworthy :notworthy Moved all in with KK v Willie Tann holding QQ and yes you can guess the rest - he went onto finish 6th. I think he is with DTD can't remember though. he was number 1 in europe either last year or the year before.I have played with him a few times and did ok against him, very solid player though.
