philossify
Re: InsidePoker and PokerPlayer Subs I agree - cracking value, if you don't win back your subscription manyfold from the freerolls they offer then you are a crap poker player :rollin
steveadam23
Re: InsidePoker and PokerPlayer Subs I just got sent a cracking offer to renew my subscription from PokerPlayer. 24 issues for £9.99. If anyone wants the offer code, drop me a pm. :ok Steve.
stereoman
Re: InsidePoker and PokerPlayer Subs Beats the 12 issues for £5 over a two year period by a penny! :lol Go on, I'll send a PM for a new Inside Poker subscription. £11.97 for 6 issues is all very well but if I can get better, I'd certainly want to. My subscription runs out this December. OT: I wouldn't be surprised if they went to subscription only eventually (surely the way Dennis are running things it can't last forever?). I can't imagine they sell too many copies in the newsagents as it is when you put in the fact that there seems to be quite a few copies made available to casinos around the country (and they seem to go pretty quick as well). stereoman
Re: InsidePoker and PokerPlayer Subs Ta, very much. It's certainly a better deal than what I'm currently getting for Inside Poker BUT I can't seem to activate a renewal for that yet (I can activate a renewal for Poker Player even though my subscription for that ends in July though! :unsure). wageringwar
Re: InsidePoker and PokerPlayer Subs Am I the only one worried that these bargains are symptomatic of struggling publications, though? I wouldn't subscribe for more than a year, certainly.
stereoman
Re: InsidePoker and PokerPlayer Subs I kind of have worried about that figuring the end is possibly nigh not least because Inside Edge changed to Inside Poker and what not. Both publications though have been chugging along for at least two years now. What will sustain the longevity of both magazines purely depends on several things such as: * Does the ad revenue and copies sold justify the cover price? ~ As I've said above I don't think they can be selling that many copies in the newsagents. I think Poker Player could go above £3.00 not too long and that's going to put people off. * Will British TV inadvertently kill off interest in poker for the masses? ~ Sure you've got The Great British Poker Tour and the Grosvesnor UK Poker Tour to help keep an interest in biggish poker competitions in the UK but I don't think the television coverage has been particularly good and I think ITV's coverage has been barely watchable. I don't think the European Poker Tour has been particularly served well by Challenge or Eurosport either. Barry Hearn and Matchroom Sport have such a strangehold on the way poker on British TV is handled and the variety of formats are limited (it's seemingly only fricking six-shooters/Rounders winner-goes-on format SNGs) as are the opportunities to when it gets shown (usually relegated to after midnight slots but hey, to get poker onto British TV whether it be cable/satellite or mainstream, is a job well done indeed). Late Night Poker returns on Channel 4 but I think the damage has been done with tinkering about with the format BUT a return to th show we knew and loved back from 1999-2002 isn't out of the question. What's it mean to PP and IP!? It means potential subscribers and things to write about, that's what. ========== Whatever happens I don't think Dennis Publishing are the kind of organization to rip subscribers off considering that they have a wide variety of successful titles that to do so Dennis would be cutting their nose off to spite their face. OT: Looks like being the tight bastard that I am, I'm going to do the dastardly thing of canceling my subscription in December and then resubscribing for Poker Player for January onwards. I wouldn't subscribe for more than a year, certainly.[/quote'] They're part of a bigger group, Dennis Publishing - I imagine if the mags went under for whatever reason, then you'd be refunded pro-rata :unsure Though what you save through the subs, I'm not that worried anyway if I do lose my money - we're not talking a fortune and at 40p an issue (including postage!!:loon) I've already saved far more than I could possible lose (I've renewed to IP for 2 years)

Hedonist
Re: InsidePoker and PokerPlayer Subs Another way of looking at it is to compare the subs to the prizes they offer for their freerolls. The game this week on Paradise that glceud won had €7000 in the prize fund with 142 entries, the value of this alone (£30+) is more than the annual subs. slick mick
Re: InsidePoker and PokerPlayer Subs Personally I've made over £3000 from their freerolls and I've spent less than £30 on subscriptions. Good deal? I think so.
glceud
Re: InsidePoker and PokerPlayer Subs I would Imagine that the mags are more than paid for with any affiliate commision from the sites that they advertise.
