The World matchplay starts on Thursday so I thought I'd get this thread up and running to get everyone's thoughts on this a few days before the off (could someone please make this a sticky?). I seem to remember Kev doing very well on this last year and with the absence of big names such as Woods, Mickelson, Furyk, Donald, Scott, Ogilvy and Garcia there may be plenty more chances to make a bit of money this year. The draw has been made for the first round but there aren't too many odds available just yet. Both have reasonable first round ties and are players I've liked the look of during the current season, especially Romero. Not sure about their matchplay credentials however, Austin got 2.5 points out of 5 in the recent President's Cup (losing the singles), and Romero didn't feature in that. In fact the Argentine doesn't seem to have played much golf at all recently. May just stick to backing these two in their first round games, as they look like being odds-against for them. Would be interested to hear others' thoughts on this event over the next few days.:ok

Re: HSBC World Matchplay Golf 11-14 October It's stuck my friend :ok. I didn't do too badly in this last year like you say mate. If memory serves, Shaun Micheel was always silly odds and I followed him every round including the 1st round against the Tiger :D. Hopefully we'll do nicely from it this time. Big fan of matchplay golf. Always want to be keeping Els and Cabrera on side around here. Els lives here and Cabrera loves it here. Both have superb records around here.
